A friend of mines dad worked at Caterpillar and installed a giant hydraulic piston as a mailbox post because someone kept running over his mailbox .

It's still there 40 years later lol.

I did the same sort of. 2 mailboxes destroyed in 2 weeks. Spent over a week putting an old dock post in with rebar and a 2 foot wide 2 foot deep hole with concrete. Wrapped the top of the pole with a white dockline and topped with a goofy lobster trap looking mailbox. This was in 85 or 86. The post is still there...
