Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Look at the current SEC standings and the games each team has. You'll see the possibility is there.
So, let’s go through it:

- Texas, UT, and LSU have 2 losses, so they have to win out. Texas still plays Vandy, UGA, and A&M. Texas can beat Vandy to give them a second loss and lose to one of the others. UT has to win out, which would give OU and Vandy a loss. LSU still plays Bama, A&M, and OU. Texas and LSU are out.
- Vandy, OU, Ole Miss, UGA, and Mizzou have one loss. Vandy or Mizzou will have two after this weekend, and UT would have to beat Vandy to knock them out. If Mizzou loses, they still play A&M and OU. OU and Ole Miss play this weekend. Ole Miss might have a chance with a loss because the rest of their schedule is easy. I’m going to say Vandy, Mizzou, and OU are out.
- That leaves A&M, Bama, UGA, Ole Miss, and UT. UT and Ole Miss would be very comparable. UGA still has GTech, too. If Texas can somehow beat them, that gets interesting. If we had finished UGA, they would be in trouble. A&M has a difficult schedule as well.
- Also, there are almost surprises, like UF beating Ole Miss last year.

TAMU and Bama are probably in. Unless UGA loses to Texas or GA Tech, they're probably in. Now, look at Ole Miss's schedule after they play Oklahoma this weekend. Nothing but cupcakes. They don't play Bama this year. So if they win this weekend, that's 4 SEC teams likely to finish ahead of us. Do you think more than 4 SEC teams make it in? I don't. I don't think the Big 10 or the other conferences allow it.

Just bc Ole Miss plays cupcakes doesn’t mean they’ll win all games. Lost to a poop UK team last year. Wazzu, a team that lost by 50+ to North Texas, took them to the brink this year.

But this is true for all of college football. As soon as you think you have these teams figured out something wild happens.

ESPN playoff predictor has Vols 90+% chance to make playoff @ 10-2.

Ole Miss and UT are only comparable if OM loses another game. They play OK this weekend. After that, cupcakes.

Sure, but they go at MSU to end the year. I know they will be pumped to hurt their season.

But, people did this last year, too. It will all work itself out. Wining out will be tough though.

Why are people so shocked we would be in at 10-2? Without anything else happening, in the next two weeks with wins we would be 2-3 spots higher at around 13-14 already because teams ahead of us are playing. Not to mention later games between UGA/GT etc and should Vandy win this weekend our game against them. It’s not even chaos happening it’s just there will be outcomes.
