Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

Nope. That is the early 90's at best.

In the 80's it was Lower Hudson field, concrete bleachers and all. LNS opened for Rodball in Feb. 1993.

(Not trying to call you out, just realize from the pic that you are OLD and probably losing your mind.)
Lamar Alexander was my university president when I graduated sir. I will have you know that he personally endorsed my diploma with the phrase, "you're not going anywhere ". So there!

Why should my or your kid with better scores not get accepted because another kid is a relative of a coach? If the niece or whoever didn’t get accepted, she didn’t have the gpa or ACT scores, just like 1000s of other kids who applied and didn’t get in. 60k applied. 7k accepted. My 3rd son worked hard for a 4.0, which is auto acceptance in TN, and took the ACT 4 times to get as high of a score as possible. Wouldn’t be fair to him or any other kid to get ditched by Claire Vitello with for example a 3.5 and 25 ACT. It is what it is.

I do agree with this. As much as I love Tony V, it’s still a learning institution and the kids who worked the hardest in high school should get first dibs on acceptance. If going to a major university is your dream and you didnt make the cut—go to a community college and get your grades up then try again. Its life.

This was the speech we were given in highschool. Most students took their core classes at Pellissippi and then went to UT.

I imagine this is a tough decision for TV. On one hand it’s the major leagues. The pinnacle for a baseball manager. On the other hand he has built something special in Knoxville and he’s a bit of a rock star plus he will have to manage the players his GM gets him plus you’re in the same division with the Dodgers and their unlimited payroll plus if he isn’t winning division titles and going to the playoffs how long will his leash be? I hope he stays but if he doesn’t it’s been one fun ride

Doesn’t sound good. But I have also taken everything the worst possible way out of fear.
I do not believe he would have coached today if he were not their coach. I just don’t think k he operates that way.

He may not be their coach tonight, but I do not think he coached this afternoon knowing he was leaving in 2 hours.

Did he say lies? I just caught a little bit of the show and heard him reference some folks making comments about White. I never hear him calm them “lies.”
“Bald faced lies”

In the strongest terms a man can use he has said family 2x on the air and claimed they’re spreading lies. Now he’s saying friends, hasn’t mentioned family. They read these threads I guess. He should apologize

Then we pay the coaches based on graduation rates rather than wins, conference titles and Natties.

Even Vanderbilt is recognizing the value of athlete over student for pursuing athletic endeavors.

Kids that earn high GPA's and ACT scores should get academic based $$$. Kids with athletic prowess should get athletic $$$.

Well, then this pic is long after you were gone.

President Joseph Johnson signed my diploma in 1994, and he was renowned for his leadership and fundraising from 1990 through the end of the century, if I am not mistaken.

Lamar! Was a good one, though. Always liked that red plaid wearing pickup truck driver.

Ya missed the point. The discussion was about Tony's niece getting differential treatment.

West needs his access cut off for such rank unprofessional behavior

I don't think you have to pay Tony V. a single cent more than he is making, and I think it is an insult to him to suggest so.

I do think he wants another million to split for his boys, and I am 100% behind him on that.

What he has done has earned him the right to have the highest payroll in college baseball.

I agree with what hes making, but if he did want a little more for the incentive of winning a natty when others dont....I actually get it. That was all I was pointing out. I know where some sports stand in the college landscape and hes not going to be paid a boatload. Just me pointing out my opinion on the matter.

I get where people would disagree however.
