Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

I have never seen so many people come to Vol Nation.com claiming to have sources on something. Somehow everyone has a source that Tony is leaving, yet no one is reporting on it. If there is THIS big of a leak and everyone knows, just rip the band aid off.

Seriously, were you not here for Grumors?

I searched for MLB coaching salaries because I didn't have a clue. It seems they make between 3 and 4 million. I am sure they have some great perks but TV already makes 3 million for 60 games. He would need to manage 100 more games and pay California state income tax. Worse than that he would need to live and work mostly in San Francisco, a great place to visit. I dreamed of being an MLB player as a kid but never a MLB manager!

He doesnt have to recruit in the MLB. Or deal with the fact that boosters here at UT wont get off their 1990's high horse and give to the baseball program.

He'd be managing way more games in MLB but most of the college grind is the 24/7/365 of recruiting, which he wouldn't be doing in MLB.

Regardless, if money is a big motivator, he'd need a not-insignificant pay bump to make the offer enticing for the reasons you described. He's already making quite a bit of money and CA cost of living is much higher.

The Drive: "reputable source saying Lady Vol basketball received $5million from revenue share for this year, and baseball received $2.2 million"

I mean....theres no way that is true right? If the total pot is $20.5M that means they got 25%....and it would mean football is less than 75% which is wildly out of wack with other SEC programs.

No one knows, and possibly even Tony doesn't know. I don't believe any of it. I will think it's all posturing until an official statement is made. No news is good news, and there ain't no news.
