Hello Vols. It's been an entertaining season -- I'm looking forward to watching this SEC season the rest of the way.

I think we'll take down Ole Miss this weekend. They're obviously a tough team, but I think Vegas has it right.

Looking forward to playing the Vols in after Ole Miss. That should be a good game. I'm guessing it will get the evening time slot.
AI…? Your mis-spelling and odd phrasing is throwing some 🚩🚩

What makes you think you will beat Ole Miss. Mateer is wildly inconsistent and you don’t have a run game. The defense is the only reason you have a chance.

We'll see.

I think we have an elite defense and the results on the field back that up.

OU's Offensive Outlook for Ole Miss: Mateer (OU's QB) is recovering from surgery on his throwing hand. Two weeks ago he wasn't able to practice the week before Texas and maybe we should have made him sit that game out. Saturday, he was probably 80% for the South Carolina game and we still played well enough to easily beat the Gamecocks on the road even though most of Mateer's running threat was missing (still recovering from hand surgery). I think Mateer will have his full running ability back by Ole Miss, plus our OL is *finally* starting to gel. South Carolina has a better defense than Ole Miss this year -- we should be able to put some points on the board.

OU's Defensive Outlook for Ole Miss: Last year, Ole Miss averaged 38.6 points per game. We're better a better defense this year, we have a MUCH better offense at avoiding three-and-outs and turnovers (which obviously is a big help to the defense), and we'll be playing at home. We should keep Ole Miss below their average points per game (37.4) assuming we don't have a spate of turnovers. They got 26 points against us last year despite having a turnover advantage, plus we had absolutely zero offense to complement the defense.

I remember you from last year. Don’t remember if I didn’t like you. Too lazy to look back. Welcome back.

Please please please beat ole miss. Defense is obviously impressive. Offense is decent when Mateer is healthy, was impressed by him before the injury.

We also expect a night game against yall (somehow our only home night game of season). Number 1 o vs number 1 d in country. And I hope we send yall home with the wheels completely fallen off the wagon.

Go Vols!

Thanks for the insight. You guys need this W as the schedule doesn’t get any easier from here on out.

That's because they don't attend or have any expectations.
They have good support at their games. I agree they are realistic but contrast them with say, South Carolina fans. South Carolina is about the same as Miss State historically but the former crowd thinks they are going to win the Natty every off season.

Dark mode game in Neyland on a Saturday night, could be a little rowdy

They are a lot more humble this time around. Wonder what changed?

Well, speaking for myself -- I think it's best to not act in an arrogant way. But if you're asking if I reshaped my opinion of our football team in year 2 of being in the SEC, I'd say this: an honest assessment of our program would conclude that OU is historically a blue blood, and a very strong team in 2025.

Yes, we've had some key holes after 29 players transferred away from OU after Lincoln Riley left in late 2021. In 2022, we just didn't have the personnel to have a good defense and ended with a 6-7 record. In 2023, Venables (a defensive minded coach) improved our defense from one of the worst in FBS to mid-tier and we went 10-3. Last year in 2024, our defense improved again (19 in total defense) but we had a disastrous year offensively for several reasons and finished back down at 6-7. This year, our offense is performing much better and our defense is elite.

I'm not so sure about the evening time slot. UT may qualify for the 11am JP Game of the week

I suspect this will be a hard fought game similar to the last time the Sooners visited.

We’ll see which side pulls it out this time. Pretty even odds IMO.
