I hope you’re right. If he goes, he needs to do so well that he becomes a lifer. I don’t want him back in college ball.
This is where my grudge as a Vol comes into play. If he does leave, I hope he goes and it turns out to be the worst decision he ever made. Then, when he returns to college, we play him every year, beating him to a pulp to where he can never get past us and back to the only game that matters.

I think this is happening because Tony has really good buddies in MLB.
He has a few of his former players, the players he coached against hate his guts! They hated the way he carried the team and how he allowed them to act. That stuff don’t work in MLB. Also most MLB don’t name their other coaches. The GM makes that decision and I don’t think I know of any manager that has made that decision. So I don’t expect any coaches to follow him unless he is given more power than most any MLB manager out there. Heck I’d name an interim coach for at least a season because I’d say this time next year TV will be begging to come back.

Prob the same people who cheered like crazy when TV said “Make the decision, you’re either a Vol or you’re not. Through thick and thin.”

To be clear I’m a huge TV fan. Best coach in college baseball. Also a big DW fan.
I am ok with Elander if he can get the job. I think Tn will not miss a beat with Elander.thats just me though

AP doesn’t make me confident. Until I see that SOB posting the awkward winking GIF, I won’t believe.
That’s the first I’ve heard of confidence from our side. That’s really good news, to me (if he really did say that, and it wasn’t just some throwaway guess).

Maybe the credibility but I think TV is the type of guy who will win over a locker room quick and gain respect. He’s got the personality and the work ethic.

But he’ll still have to prove himself to some degree, of course.
Sorry Marco, but it’s a completely different game. NFL head coach, NBA head coach get to make at least some of their player personnel decisions. MLB manager gets none of that so looking at NFL coaches that came from college mean nothing at all, not even remotely comparable. TV last one stint in the majors before he comes back to the college game OR he drops down to minors and actually learns what it takes. Hes never played minor or Major League Baseball and he’s never been in a MLB organization. San Fran is about to make the dumbest decision yet when it comes to hiring a manager, sadly it’s going to come at the cost of our head coach. Sadly in a few years he will be coaching back in college most likely but not with UT.

Well we all get to see how it plays out 🤷🏻‍♂️

You’re assuming he won’t be successful.

He’s not. Not in his DNA to have that loser mindset.
He won’t, sorry, I don’t care what his DNA is, it’ll take him to long to learn the major league game, if you think it’s anywhere close to college I don’t know what else to tell you. One of my best friends dad spent 20 plus years in the minors, he even says TV won’t make it 3 years before he’s ready to leave himself! MLB managers are told what they are to do, from scouting reports, to which players will be playing. TV isn’t going to like that and I don’t believe it’s in his DNA to be a whipping boy or to be bossed what to do. He leads his program now pretty much however he wants, majors isn’t like that at all.

Yes I understand the differences. I’m not saying he’ll be successful. Just that he believes he will. But I have no reason to bet against him. Everything is impossible until someone does it.

Like I’ve said we all get to see how it plays out.
