The Trump Effect

Nah, Gas has gone down, groceries are still too high.. still at Biden levels.. nit really sure there is a lot anyone can do at this point.. to be fair, have you ever known groveries to go down ever? I’ve never seen it happen since I started buying them, but hope springs eternal
Ive been waiting for Beef to go down since Covid..

Fillet was selling for $37/lb at my local Publix as of yesterday. Erffff
Yup. I've been eating a lot more yard bird since COVID struck.

On the other hand, we haven't had cattle on the farm in quite a bit and I am considering raising some steers to sell to the feed lot if beef prices remain high. Even smaller farmers are making some money right now.

So the thing I don’t understand it - maybe somebody can explain that’s in the business - is why can I buy pork tenderloin for $5.99 a pound yet beef tenderloin cost six times as much. It just doesn’t seem to add up economically…
In my limited understanding, I think it has a lot to do with critters per acre and rate of reproduction. The higher both of those numbers are, the more economical it is to bring those to market.

Drought and feed costs have reduced herd sizes, too much corn going into gas tanks.

Cheaper to feed hogs since they will eat damn near anything.
