Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

I really wish posters who post as if they were in a position to inform learned the difference between NIL and revenue sharing. If you knew who was funding baseball NIL you would understand why money isn't an issue. The issue that Tony made a public stink about, and what people are now throwing up to have someone to blame for their perceived wronging, was the proportion of the revenue sharing that baseball received vs. the other teams on campus. Baseball is sharing from a pool including Lady Softball and all the other sports on campus besides the big 3. I get that that's frustrating and Tony has every right to be mad about it, but it's also in line with what every other SEC team is agreeing to. So he's not being put at a disadvantage, as you can clearly see from recruiting/portal.

I think everyone is making too big of a stink about that. If Tony leaves it will not be because he didn't feel like he was given enough to win championships.
Enlighten us!

I agree completely, which is why I can’t believe it ever got off the ground. But, it’s off the ground. In fact, I think the deal happened today, but that’s a 2nd hand source, not the one who’s directly connected.

I also don’t think Tony is one of those guys who will play the game. I think he’ll put up a good face in public, but I think Plowman will hear it all.
What I was saying is an MLB organizational hierarchy is gonna make ADDW look like a saint in comparison. Tony would hate the way my favorite team (the Cardinals) is run; heck, I hate the way the Cardinals are run!

Drew Gilbert might not even make the team. He finished batting a whopping .190 this year with 3 HR and 13 RBI. I really doubt a GM would take advice from a rookie batting .190. Different story if he was a 5-10 time All-Star and 10-15 years in the league.
He liked the energy Gilbert brought to the clubhouse and dugout. He thinks CTV would be the ultimate clubhouse / team culture guy. It wasn’t about Gilbert’s performance on the field. It was about the energy CTV could bring.

“Honestly, what I knew was Drew Gilbert — and I don’t know if any of this happens without Drew Gilbert, I really don’t,” Baggarly said. “That is one of the questions I’d be really interested to ask Buster, if this does end up culminating in a press conference to introduce Tony Vitello as their next manager. How much did what Drew Gilbert did to the clubhouse, to the dugout, to enliven everything, bring some spirits and energy, how much did that sort of make you wake up and think, ‘You know, maybe that’s what this organization really needs. Maybe that’s what this clubhouse really needs.’”

Not sure of your point. So you think CTV hasn‘t been offered the Giants job???
I don’t claim to know anything about the situation. I’m just saying I don’t believe anything being floated as truth at this time. Maybe they did maybe they didn’t. Until a press release is made, everything said are only rumors. And I hate rumors. Unless they’re Grumors, those are amazing.

So rumors, got it 👍🏻
Absolutely. But I’m not trying to win likes. I want to be wrong annd Tony stay. Let’s not forget that just days ago, a lot that was dismissed as “rumors.” Now it’s being mentioned by the media.
I heard the stuff about NIl and revenue apportionment months ago. Nobody believed me.

Half of which will never play here. This only speaks to how good Tony really is. Baseball is behind the other sports, but that’s changing. Look at what Arkansas is doing. Charm only goes so far. So, if you want to go on poking fun at me and denying the problem, you’re about to get a reality check. I’ve already heard from a source that he’s gone.
GA had the #1 portal class in baseball according to D1. Yes, Ga! They are spending some serious money on baseball.

If the individuals I'm referring to wanted the credit for it, then they'd make it public I'm sure. So I'm not going to air out publicly something they might not want known for whatever reason they don't want it known. I will tell you the same individuals supporting Football, basketball, and to a degree the other sports, are contributing to baseball. Some of those names are well-known and I wouldn't be breaking any news. You've seen them sitting at games.

I know that sounds like a cop-out, but I'm just trying to be considerate.

Why do I have to hate Danny White if I want Vitello to stay?
Where is this narrative coming from?
Hell, I hope they both remain and continue to be very successful at UT.
This whole having to choose a side thing is weird.
I bet some of you would make Emmy winning, daytime soap opera writers, if you’d only quit your day job.

yea but that rah rah stuff and antics won't work in MLB with veterans who have been in the league for years when you have never played in MLB or even coached in MLB. Lots of different personalities and lots of players from Dominican or Venezuelan, Panama, Mexico, Colombia, etc so lots of different personalities and cultures to manage as well.

The Florida Marlins tried something similar to this with John Boles who also never played in the league either and he was a disaster.

Pratt, Haslam, Manning, Helton, Jones, and maybe even Boyd to name a few.

And even it did work, it’s hard to be “up” for 162 games.
