'26 UT WR Salesi Moa (Tennessee commit)

I think, because you take it personal, you think other people—who don't—do. Nothing is ever personal for me. It's about having either good or bad perspective. I've got a great perspective on all of this. None of it affects my life in any way. I don't let it.
I don't and didn't say you did. My point was everyone always getting pressed when you say a player. coach, etc is not just going to magically fix the problems. Someone can't complain about ball security with a RB. I said Sampson had ball security issues his last year where he literally led the SEC in fumbles and people got mad. @LittleVol says he would like to see DGG have better ball security after he almost fumbled the biggest game of the season away (but Baylor recovered) and people get upset. Say you need to have a scholarship receiver on your bench who has played more than 2 games but then I get called a hater for not believing every young receiver is going to turn into a Biltenikoff candidate. Mike has played bad recently and someone said just that and people are telling him he needs to be more thankful for having Mike. It's not really personal for me, I have no decision-making power in this program, but people should be able to voice criticisms without everyone just telling them to be grateful the program they pull for is not as bad as it used to be...

At least Brazzell didnt lead the team in drops, Matthews does-and oh btw we collectively as a team have the second most drops in the country
Brazzell also didn't have noticeable and blatant effort/concentration lapses that take away potentially scores. The talent is certainly there and I'm not exactly sure what is going bc Mike is a dawg when locked in. Not sure what is going on with him, but the team needs him to step up in big games. They really don't have a choice, have no other options at the current moment. He has the talent to be a big time receiver as we saw against Miss St, but he needs to do it consistently against other SEC teams for this year especially with two losses already. No room for error currently. I'd be fine with a 9-3 season personally with the state of this roster but Matthews is a guy this team needs to step up regardless

Everyone is only responsible for their own behavior. I never tell people what to do. I simply state my own opinion and what works for me.

Folks can keep on complaining about every little thing that can possibly be critiqued about the program all they want. It does not affect me.

My life is better because I focus on being grateful for everything I do have. I find that by doing that, more blessings than you could possibly have imagined flow naturally into your life. Anything else is a waste of my time.

we also have one of the best offenses. means more passes
Broadcast Saturday said we had second most dropped passes, we also only have the 21st most passing attempts in the country, no team above us in passing attempts has that many drops

Edit: we have 25 dropped passes this year. For reference, uga led the country last year in drops with 31

if we had 25 less dropped passes we prob have a top ten offense.

We have three receivers man. Wish we had more, but we dont.

Same posters that were trashing Heard last year too. Here’s a crazy thought. Players can improve from year to year.
This is a point I’ve made many times on these boards. Way too many of our fans don’t understand that players develop. And maybe that’s because they are used to coaching staffs that don’t develop players. For so long under Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt, into a lesser degree, even Fulmer (at certain positions), players basically were who they were after their freshman year.

We are fortunate to have coaching staffs across all sports now that develop talent.

The dogging on Mike Matthews is insane. He leads the team in yards per reception among guys who have at least 4 catches, but somehow he can't get open, can't run routes, and can't make people miss......

He's had a case of the dropsies. But to be fair, all of WRs (and TEs) have the same issue. He cleans that up and he's easily a 1k+ yard receiver next year. Hell, he's still on pace for 800+ yards over 13 games. Do people not recall how little production our receivers have had the prior 2 seasons? Do people not recall how mediocre Brazzell looked last year as WR3/4, and now he's the projected top WR in the 2026 draft?

Yeah reminds me of Hyatt in a sense of just having a lot of drops...Hyatt put the work in and became the biletknikoff winner. Mike has a lot of talent just needs to work on catching/holding on to the ball. Jug machine needs to be his best friend during the offseason.

He was recruited by UGA to play safety. He would have been starting for them at Safety probably.

Would any of our safeties the past 5 years be starting for UGA? KJ Bolden came to UGA because they went after him hard, when Matthews finally chose Tennessee.

Matthews has had bad hands since HS. This isn’t a recent thing.

Yes I think he’s an All Conference safety if he moved there. How many times does he need to drop the football??

He's currently 11th in the SEC in receiving yards as a sophomore. That's two spots above Ryan Williams for reference. He is 12th in the SEC in yards per reception. But somehow moving him to a position he hasn't played in 2 over years is magically a better solution? LMAO.

I just pay them no mind. You're not going to change any of their minds, and if you do, they will find something different to be mad about. It seems like to me, that these people only watch sports to confirm their negative worldview. They absolutely do not seem to enjoy it.

It's a miserable way to live, and I would never want to live like that, but I also know that I can't help them.

11th

So where would he be if he actually caught the football consistently?
He dropped a 3rd down pass against UGA. I think we still made a field goal that drive? But if he caught it- maybe we score a TD win in regulation.

He dropped a 3rd and 19 against Bama. Had he caught it we would have better options at the end of that drive.

Catching the ball is what Mike can control. He can’t block EDGEs. He can’t call offensive plays. But he CAN make sure to catch the football.
@MarcoVol and where has Brazzell been the past 2 games? He’s a lot better in year 2 but he’s still fairly inconsistent himself.

WE LEAD THE NATION IN DROPS.

Mike has been playing safety his whole life. Do you honestly think whatever he would produce would NOT be better than what Turrentine and Farooq have put out there? Honestly…

OK. Matthews isn't the only one dropping the ball. Why you are singling him out is puzzling.

And yes, I absolutely believe he would not be better than Turrentine or Farooq after not playing that position for over 2 years. Boo Carter has played safety most of his career, was an elite recruit, and he isn't better at this time either.

Boo is not about coaching. It’s buy-in. He has other issues.

The other guys ain’t about coaching either. They’re just not adequate for this level as starters.

Chris Gamble back in 2002 started play both WR and CB for Ohio State. MIDSEASON He finally started at CB and WR. CB is much harder to play than safety. He went on to hold 1st rnd pick Andre Johnson to 50 yards receiving in the National Championship game.

I’m saying that Matthews has been playing safety his whole life. He practices against them everyday. He hasn’t forgotten how to play football. He just has trouble catching the football. He’s always had trouble. This isn’t a new thing. He’s just a starter now so we see it more often.

Well if Chris Gamble did it 20 years ago I guess anyone can.....
