What other message boards are saying (Kentucky pre-game edition)

For a second there I thought I was reading quotes from Volnation circa 2019....

Those of you thinking Stoops will be gone this year are not correct.

1 - UK would owe him something like 38 Million and unlike some of the other recent firings, Stoops would be owed that entirety within 90 days. Even with insurance premiums and off sets (if he finds a new gig that fast), I don't see UK shelling that out. The buyout drops significantly next season.

2 - UK knows that the football coach in Lexington is NOT the top dog on campus or in the AD. I highly doubt they want to be shopping in the market this year with what, 6 or 7 major schools already looking and possibly more.
I am absolutely amazed that Stoops had the leverage over KY for the school to agree to a contract like that.

It seems like he’s in an impossible position. Football generates more money than basketball for Kentucky but they divert more money to basketball than any other SEC coach. I don’t think firing Stoops solves the problem. A top tier coach isn’t going to Kentucky to be relegated to second fiddle. His hands are basically tied as he gets outspent by all the other schools.
I think Stoops will be there as long as he wants to unless Ky decides to allow more money to be put into the football program,, and then go after another coach.

These predictions are laughable. Vols will struggle to a win Saturday night. UK played lil uT off their feet. I'm not sure they don't do the same to us. They have ZERO to lose.
Have you watched Texas at all this year? They barely have a forward gear. KY did not play up to Texas like most want to believe.

I think they will have to, but their NIL situation is not going to attract top talent. They will have to bet on a Clark Lee hire and hope he pans out.
They have a 4* FR starting at QB who could end up being legit if gets away from that coaching staff.

Unrelated, but one of the post game questions to Simpson Saturday was his UT recruitment and choosing to go to Bama. He said it was a close call, but his recruitment was during the coaching change so he ultimately chose Bama.

I did not do a Alabama post game edition, because I hate them and personally did not want to hear anything they had to say.

-Great, what I always dreamed of, losing to two UT's back to back at home.

-This is just what we needed, losing a heartbreaker to Texas and then getting crushed by a pissed off Tennessee team.

-Is it basketball season yet?

-Stoops has got to go, he'll prove it even more on Saturday night.

-Tennessee will come into Lexington on Saturday night and run circles around this lost team.

-Tennessee by 20 plus, place your bets folks.

-At least the Texas game was entertaining, this one will not be.

-Tennessee is light years better on offense than Texas, we'll all be turning this one off early.

-I think Saturday night will be a good night to clean out my sock drawer.

-Vols will hammer us and my lifelong hate for them will grow even more just like The Grinch's heart.

-Wake me up when football season is over.

-I really hate Tennessee, but it won't matter. Vols by 80.

-I believe we can catch them off guard by running inside zone all night. That'll show em Stoops.

-Fans should just boycott the games to let the administration know we are tired of the coaching staff and need to look elsewhere because stoops is not the man to lead us to a playoff, he's had 13 years to make us relevant, we a couple good seasons but the rest were mediocre. If coaches like Curt Cignetti and Clark Lea can turn bottom of the league teams into potential playoff teams, sure we can find a better coach than what we have now, needs to be done this year!!!!!!

-Tennessee has our number, plus you already know that the crooked & corrupt SEC refs will give them every break possible so that Tennessee can beat us again…..like a drum, as usual.

-The stadium will be primarily orange. Get used to this until Stoops is canned.

-We are the absolute worst team in The SEC and we have the absolute cheapest tickets in The SEC. It'll be a Vol take over. Pathetic.

-Everyone is checked out. Do us a favor SEC and suspend the rest of our season.
And just like that, I feel better about our program. There definitely needs to be some changes made, but this just shows how far we have come. Not too long ago, we were in the same place they are in now.

Yeah they did the deal in 2022 after he went to like 5 or 6 straight bowl games, winning 4, became UK's winningest coach ever, and I think a 10 win season.
That was also the year the AD signed Calipari to that crazy "lifetime" contract, so the football contract was seen as a 'me too' kind of thing.
It's been downhill since then though as they are 7-6, 4-8, and so far 2-4 this year...

Almost spit out my sweet tea after reading this one. Has this person never seen any of our games. The officials, although I agree with the crooked and corrupt, do not favor us or give us breaks. SMH

It's comical that they think Tennessee gets a favorable whistle like we're Bama or UGA.

But hell, maybe we do against them. I guess they really are that far down the SEC pecking order in the eyes of Birmingham.

I know they dont want to hear this, but with the jobs that are open and the jobs that may become open, Kentucky might be best served hanging on to Stoops another year and trying their luck next year. Is there a single open job Kentucky is better than? I doubt it.

I'm gonna have to call an emergency family reunion. While I hate Kentucky, I think my people are close to the edge 😅

Skipping the post-game Bama board edition is probably for the best. I'm expecting UK to put up a decent fight like they always do when we go up there and especially given it's a night game. Vols win though. I do hope for a comfortable win in conference for the first time this year. Please lol.

10 wins twice was a big deal for us. Like many coaches of his generation he refuses to change and modernize. He whines about NIL and he hasn't grown as a game manager.

Contrary to wide spread belief, UK isn't a basketball school, it is a school (like every other) that built it's identity around the program that was winning. When Cal was flagging, football capturing significant fan marketshare, and fans were hand wringing about "apathy" towards basketball. UK fans will care about football again when it's fun and plausibly competitive against middle tier SEC teams rather than being 16 out of 16 with head scratcher game management.

UT will of course win this weekend and everyone is going to be digging in the couch cushions to come up with the $38M due in 60 days to make him go away. The AD will retire in 3 years or less.
