James Franklin could not compete in the puss-ass Big10 what makes you think he can compete in the SEC? And Saban isn't coaching again, why would he ever do that? The fear here is do they get James Franklin? It's no secret that Lane Kiffin has been after it or Saban coming out. I do not like this news.

While I agree, it isn't like he was getting skull drug by Ohio St., Michigan, and more recently Oregon every year, like we have vs UGA before this season. He was on an equal or better talent field to OSU and the rest of the Big 10 the last few years. He just isn't a great X's and O's guy and got outcoached late in games. If he would have relinquished play calling completely, they would likely have won those games at a higher rate.He wins 10 games most years in the Big 10 at one of the big 3 historic programs. All he had to do was lose to Ohio State every year, then beat all the other average to crud programs in the Big 10. If he happened to play Michigan, he could still lose to them (which he’d usually do) and he’d be 10-2.
Winning 10 games in the SEC is not in the same stratosphere of ease as winning 10 games in the Big 10.
Which is weird. Because he was hired at Penn State, i.e., “Rape U” while that coverup investigation was still ongoing. You’d think Penn State would’ve steered clear, given their situation. And you’d think that the National media would’ve ripped them apart for hiring him after the Sandusky saga. But they didn’t say anything.
They’d have eviscerated Tennessee if we’d hired a coach who covered up a rape after going through a rape scandal. Don’t tell me the national media treats all schools the same. And Big 10 schools have always gotten preferential treatment.
They are currently paying 2 HCs to not coach for them. More than 11.5 million being paid just this year. And 3.6 million in buyouts over the next 2 years. Mullen comes off the books after 2027 and that numbers drops to 2.6 million for the next 2 years.Florida isnt as desperate as we were.
Its still a more attractive job than ours was in 2021 because of more recent success and the rich recruiting base. They are currently paying 2 HCs to not coach for them. I think they are pretty desperate, tbh. Though maybe not "firing your coach in late December" desperate.

More recent success than us (in 2021). They had won 3 nattys and 3 conference titles since we last won a natty and conference title (again Im talking about where things were in 2021).More recent success? I don't agree. UF currently has 1 less win in the previous 4.5 years than we did in the 5 years prior to 2021.
And I've touched on the recruiting bit before. The recruiting advantage isn't what it was 20 years ago. Everyone is going into Florida now and pulling elite players and players are traveling across the country to play football now more than ever before. Add to that, Miami is the now the clear top program in the state, in terms of success and money being pumped in. Florida State is also pouring more money into their program than UF currently is. Even UCF is now a P4 program in the Big 12 that can compete for a guaranteed spot in the CFP and will slowly be eating into that recruiting base.
I agree that UF is in a better position now than what we were in 2021. I would say the situation was worse because of the timing. You fire a coach in late December and you miss out on all the top sitting coaches available. Not to mention the NCAA investigation that was coming out way. My point is more that UF is still plenty desperate right now, and I don't think what UF did nearly 20 years ago is all that relevant to "recent success."More recent success than us (in 2021). Florida in 2025 is a more attractive job than Tennessee was in 2021.
Florida will almost always be a better job simply because you can throw a rock and hit an NFL caliber recruit in that state. The state of Tennessee is getting better, but we do not produce nearly as much top end talent compared to the state of Florida.More recent success than us (in 2021). Don't get me wrong...I think Florida could do a lot worse than Franklin. Obviously, that isn't a huge ringing endorsement for SEC success, but he's won in the SEC before, and at historically bad school at that.
