What the hell does that matter. They are on our schedule. Should we just pencil in a loss ever year, and just accept it. I want people to say “which other teams have played Tennessee” , but that ain’t happening. It hurts my heart but we are middle of the pack SEC teamWhich other teams have played both Alabama and Georgia?
It happens frequently when we make a big play and have first and goal…we line up quickly and about 90% of the time give the ball to the RB for an inside run…and frequently we get stuffed because the other team knows what’s coming or we get a motion penalty…Half the time we get a 2nd or 3rd and short we try to hurry and get a penalty or allow penetration as they crash the Los.
Where are the “analysts” we employ who should have this stuff in reports by this morning showing how coaching decisions put us in positions to make mistakes. No need to rush. Act like you’ve had 3rd and 2 before. Oops nm 3rd and 7.
And someone will say it’s because our coach is overweight and doesn’t shave enough. Lol.Officiating comes in bad spots, whether it's a crucial penalty (or non-penalty) or a bad spot or booth review. Sometimes they change the game.
But to your point, it feels that Heupel has allowed/overlooked his teams sloppiness in practice because he thinks he can outscheme teams to victory. Maybe you can get away with it in G5 or with top 3 talent.
Yep, also you get to a certain plateau as a HC and the officials look at you differently. A lot of fans forget why these guys got in to officiating, their big fans of the game most played in HS and guys like Spurrier, Saban Kirby etc... are their heroes. When you make it up to a Saban or Kirby status you get most all the 50/50 calls e.g. Kirby calling TO and then convincing an official he was just clapping official changes to agree with Kirby. Lesser coaches are not feared by the officials, Refs are human and big fans it is just a part of the gamesmanship of trying to get upper hand, that edge. The rich get it, the others are left out trying to get there. It is what it is.Officiating comes in bad spots, whether it's a crucial penalty (or non-penalty) or a bad spot or booth review.
