Should AD go all in on baseball and offer tony $20M

The UTAD needs to be exceptionally creative at keeping Tennessee fan’s favorite coach and generate some new ways to get him the funding he needs, legally of course. Danny White has got to earn his salary here because he will lose vast credibility by a large portion of the UT fan base if he does not.

I suspect the average fan rating for Coach V is higher than any other coach. There is a limit in what can be offered to baseball but UT has to realize this program at this time ranks at the top all-around, perhaps not in success (LSU) - yet - but certainly in notoriety and recognition. No other sports flashes the UT brand like UT Baseball and no other coach has the same flair, genuineness, competency, baseball knowledge, and generates hype for the UT brand than Tony Vitello. I suspect his players would run through walls for him and as a baseball season ticket holder so would I.

I don't think baseball generates that kind of revenue.
Perhaps not and that might be why we're having this discussion. Still, consider the revenue generated by women's softball and basketball in relation to their head coaching salaries. I don't think $4M is out of line. Frankly, I say we make him the highest paid coach in college baseball AND double his NIL fund. He's earned every penny of it.

That's insane. Where did you come up with that number? Any AD who offers that to CTV should be fired immediately. It should be 44M fully guaranteed with personal revenue sharing from the football team, as well as a 2022 Dodge Durango.

i’m just trying to distract myself from the pain of my team played like crap last night. I don’t give a rip about Tony if I’m being honest.
I’m still hurting too, I just appreciate the hell out of the way you spend someone else’s money.
I’d rather keep Tony V, over any other coach on campus.

i thought its be obvious that i was being sarcastic. 20M for baseball would be absurd. that’s more than 8x his current salary

Agreed. Of the major men’s sports it’s Vitello, Barnes and Heupel in that order for me. That’s not a knock on Heupel and football is by far my favorite sport—but Tony has proven he can win it all and I got so much joy the summer of 2024, that he’s my favorite Tennessee coach.
