Napier fired

Franklin is the "odd man in" in all of the P4 openings. As an AD, you know what you're getting with him. Solid recruiter. Solid coach. Wins games. For reasons I admit I don't understand, just seems to have that "can't win the big ones" curse. But if he wants to coach again, he'll have options to choose from.

I have no idea where he ends up. But if not next year, then by the year after James Franklin is a head coach at a P4 school again. The man's a winner. Not a big fan of his, but he wins. And he will find a job.

If I'm him, I take a year off...let the dust settle...figure out how to find a winning QB...and hit the ground running in 2027.

We have not heard the last of Coach Franklin.
If you are a school that wants to hire James Franklin, Franklin is going to have a ton of leverage because he absolutely does not have to work. He can do one interview a year and collect 8 million per. So that's going to be interesting. I doubt he's going to take just any job. Would have to be the right one with the right amount of resources.

If Kiffin 'wanted' the Florida gig so bad then why did he not make himself available when Napier was hired? Seems all of the sports writers want to mention Kiffin first but I think Dougie D is on to something. Golesh is the more obvious hire.

He'd leave for the right price and or reassurements. Florida is an elite job where you can win National Championships, there really are less of those out there then people think. Sure, the pressure is immense, but so is it at every other top job out there, and this is one of those coveted "leave where you are, even if it's good situation" type of jobs. That said, he's not my first choice, but he'd listen if there was serious interest.
1. Florida is not really an elite job anymore.

2. The extended playoffs make it increasingly easier to make the playoffs OUTSIDE of the SEC, where you aren't playing 9 games a year against mostly elite football programs.

3. Brohm bleeds Louisville. He was born in Louisville. Louisville was his favorite team growing up. Then he played at Louisville and broke a bunch of passing records. It would be like if we hired Peyton as HC. Brohm isn't going anywhere.

Louisville tried for years to hire Jeff Brohm but he rebuffed all interest until NIL changed the CFB landscape. Deep pockets in Louisville.

None of the major power brokers would ever have Kiffin back here, and half of the fan base would have a fit. And I’m embarrassed to say that only half of the fan base would have a fit.

Sometimes you gotta let bygones be bygones. He was the only coach of relevance who wanted the job when Butch was fired. Had we hired him both parties would’ve been better off for it, I guarantee it. That’s not to say that I’m not happy with Huepel, but Pruitt set the program back majorly.

The fanbase would’ve forgiven Kiffin quickly once he started winning.

JFranklin will follow Dan Mullen at UNLV.

Mullen headed back to the Big Leagues.
Mullen keeps saying he's not going anywhere. I know that's not meant much at times in the past, but I wonder if there's going to be an open job he would leave for. Lots of money in Vegas.

Franklin wins 10 games a year. He could recruit more UF resources in a recruit rich state.
He wins 10 games most years in the Big 10 at one of the big 3 historic programs. All he had to do was lose to Ohio State every year, then beat all the other average to crud programs in the Big 10. If he happened to play Michigan, he could still lose to them (which he’d usually do) and he’d be 10-2.

Winning 10 games in the SEC is not in the same stratosphere of ease as winning 10 games in the Big 10.

Everyone forgets that
Which is weird. Because he was hired at Penn State, i.e., “Rape U” while that coverup investigation was still ongoing. You’d think Penn State would’ve steered clear, given their situation. And you’d think that the National media would’ve ripped them apart for hiring him after the Sandusky saga. But they didn’t say anything.

They’d have eviscerated Tennessee if we’d hired a coach who covered up a rape after going through a rape scandal. Don’t tell me the national media treats all schools the same. And Big 10 schools have always gotten preferential treatment.

The first one was fired. The second one may not survive the year and has shown he doesn't have a clue with the NIL / portal. Saban has made it clear he doesn't like what is happening with the NIL / portal.
Saban hates NIL because it bring the possibility of some type of parity. No? Just take a look at #10 ranked 6-1 Vanderbilt.

Florida isnt as desperate as we were.
But just because they’re not as desperate doesn’t mean they should box themselves in by only looking at current Power 4 head coaches. Look at the current top 25, only 10 of the coaches whose teams are ranked had previous P4 head coaching experience or spent more than three years in the Group of 5. The other 15 were either coordinators or had a cup of coffee as a G5 head coach.

Kinda unusual to fire a struggling coach after they actually won the game (pitiful performance though) but I get it. We all knew it was coming soon or later. Good luck Sunbelt Billy!!

Florida is about rise off of the mat.
We knew it was coming. Who would you not like to see there.
They are off the annual schedule next year. Honestly I don't really care who they hire. I'm just in for the epic meltdown once they end up with a guy none of the fans wanted.

Good grief, wish they'd given him a raise. Just what Florida needed. :) I do give them credit; Fla doesn't tend to wait much or drag it out. Someone is gonna love that job.... just before they're fired next. None of these schools have figured it out yet, to include Tennessee....and I DEFINITELY hope Florida NEVER does!!! It's coming though.
