I don’t think this decision comes down to money. It comes down to what CTV wants to do with his life. Does he want to manage in the big leagues or does he want to coach college kids? Two completely different jobs.

My guess is he wants to try his hand at managing in The Show. Otherwise it wouldn’t have gotten this far. I don’t think this is all a ploy to get more money for himself or the program. If I’m right then we can’t blame DW if he goes

It sounds like there are some financial barriers to this deal. That $3 million buyout is an awful lot for this sort of hire. Kudos to DW for putting that impediment into CTV’s contract. He’s looking out for UT’s best interests.

For the Giants to pay that plus compensate CTV for the job and move to the most expensive city in the country would be a huge lift, particularly for a guy who has zero MLB experience. It’s a risky hire

I only see this happening if CTV really wants it so much so that he’s willing to take a pay cut
