right before the safety. IMHO it was the second most important play of the game because it ended up being about a 30 yard penalty since it was a completed pass. My understanding was it wasnt on the receiver but about 15 yards away from the ball on another wr and had nothing to do with the outcome of the play itself.

Thx

The slot receiver didn't run a route. He sought out the LB to make a block. This would have been fine if the ball would have been thrown behind the LOS, but it wasn't.

Either the play was miscommunicated and the slot wasn't supposed to block, or the play was a called screen pass that wasn't properly executed.

Is it really the line of scrimmage that matters or does it need to be a lateral? You can’t run block on a forward pass, but you can run block on a lateral.

It was the right call.

I won’t post why since others already have.

Good question though as it stalled a drive.

It definitely wasn't a BS Penalty, it was called correctly.

You can’t block the DB while the ball is in the air unless the pass is thrown behind the line of scrimmage. It was caught just beyond the line of scrimmage.
Exactly…it’s the little things. Brazzell has to drop a step or two to make sure he’s well behind the line…instead, he was right on the line and had to step forward just across the line of scrimmage to make the catch…you could say it was on the QB but he’s really counting on the receiver being behind the line.

It is that you have no clue about the rules of football.
Yeah you re right, i dont know why a penalty is called that had absolutely no effect on the play at all. I certainly understand when the wr that catches the ball pushes off to gain an advantage. I have forgotten more about rules of football than a snot nosed punk like you ever knew.

Just to clarify i can understand when the off wr sets a pick for the on wr to get clear for the catch. But that wasnt the case on this play , the wr it was called on was 15 yards from the guy who caught the ball

If it is the correct call the rules committee needs to revisit the rule. JMHO.
