That’s fair. From that perspective, I think as essentially a first year player he’s been decent. Expect him to take a big jump next year assuming he becomes more consistent.

Yeah Staley is carving out the Hyatt role. But he’s not going to stretch the perimeter like MM could. Doesn’t have the same type of natural athleticism (and before you fight me on that I mean things like length/range/body control/jump ball potential/etc). Could he be more productive statistically, sure. More dependable, sure. But he’s not a guy like brazzell or hopefully MM who could draw a safety over the top due to perimeter jump ball potential. MM still just scratching the surface.
I think MM will be selling insurance in a few years but maybe I’m wrong.

I want to be clear I have no way of verifying if this guy is telling the truth but Virtual Vol is a long-timer poster on the GV247 board and just dropped this re: Tony.

"Wifey is knows a guy that is pretty substantial donor to the baseball program and claims to know Tony personally (plenty of pics to prove it). We buy tickets off him sometimes. He’s been claiming since this morning (publicly on Facebook) that Tony has decided to stay."

Wifey is knows....

Just for the perception of this team and his coaching ability, the Florida game in the swamp has become an absolute must win for Heupel. Win and all is good. Lose and that seat may begin to get warm.

Except that it wasn’t blown up. That’s a staple in Heupel’s offense. Get your WR’s in space with 1 to 1 defenders. It went for 8-9 yards. Pretty much the same play that Velus Jones took to the house at UK in 2021. We saw it a bunch with Hooker, too. Then, when they play man up tight, it’s go time. That’s Heupel’s offense.

A yard or half yard, that call isn’t made more than it is made.
This year against good teams, it is not working like in the past. Good teams with good athletes have figured out how to defend. ETSU and those types of schools and hopefully Kentucky have not. Maybe we can have future success again but no Bru out there to block like previous years. Just because it worked with Velus doesn't mean it is working now.

Hope it’s true and hope Tony got a fat raise out of it. He should be the highest paid coach in college baseball.

There was a considerable difference in talent between the two sides but no doubt better plays in certain situations and better execution and the game was winnable.
If you’re comparing secondaries yeah but we were still throwing all over them and would have done better without drops. But yeah we could have won that game smh
