I have defended Danny Dollars from our fans for a long time, but clearly something happened to piss Tony off enough to run him away. Football better win with how much this is costing the fan both in real dollars and our other programs or Danny can hit the road, too.
I think you need to take a breath.
It's an MLB job, and TV is still pretty young. This is a dream scenario, especially when he can be the first MLB manager to come straight from college with no pro experience.
I don't know how you can jump to "White pissed him off" to make him go take an MLB job. It's just the cost of doing business. The same thing could happen to Huepel if he wins big, an NFL team may come calling and he might want to do it. Whoever Barnes' replacement might come in and get us to some FFs or win it all and an NBA team may come calling.
I wonder if DW came to the conclusion that we can’t sustain being an everything school and started pulling some funds that previously would have gone to baseball.
Have you looked at MLB manager salaries. He already makes more than 2/3rds of the league. Check the facts/ Do you think the Giants are going to pay him more than the top 6-7 managers in the league? Really? For a guy that’s never sat in a major league, much less, a minor league dugout.Yea. Doubt he’s taking a pay cut lol
Correct!!! What I've been saying. I understand why TV would entertain. The real questions is; What in the heck is a major market MLB team thinking? Love my TV, but he is not an MLB manager by any definition. Which of course means it will probably happen. Make Elander interim and march on.......I’m much less surprised that Tony is considering it than I am that the Giants are offering.
I don’t know about this, I mean it is coming from just some RandomUTfan...I posted this in the recruiting thread but should have posted it here: Virtual Vol on 247 is claiming he knows a baseball booster claiming Tony has decided to stay. No way to verify this, of course.
"Wifey is knows a guy that is pretty substantial donor to the baseball program and claims to know Tony personally (plenty of pics to prove it). We buy tickets off him sometimes. He’s been claiming since this morning (publicly on Facebook) that Tony has decided to stay."

So, there’s recent and previous heat, and this was before Tony became a candidate. Even the guys on the Sport Source mentioned Tony’s frustration regarding NIL. I’ve heard from two unrelated sources that Tony and Danny have had words. This isn’t new. I’d heard stuff long before this situation came up. I even heard rumblings when Danny first got here about wanting to put his own person in. Now, that changed quick as Tony skyrocketed.Exactly. If Tony Vitello were actively shopping himself to other college programs I'd say something might be amiss between Danny and him; but this is a MLB opportunity...I doubt that it's personal.
Even if they hate each other, their relationship is mutually beneficial. Danny wins if tony wins and vis versa. But kiss broke up when they were on top of the world (Rip Ace), so sometimes that resentment triumphs I guess. So, there’s recent and previous heat, and this was before Tony became a candidate. Tony is NOT your typical coach. To say he’s unique would be the understatement of the year. He’s approachable and genuine, but he also doesn’t care for corporate level BS, and Danny is all about that. Tony goes rogue, a lot. He doesn’t filter his interviews or access through the UTAD. Danny doesn’t like it. Tony doesn’t give a rip. There’s real tension.
The Giants interest in Tony has nothing to do with this, but Tony’s reciprocation is definitely affected by it. Is is 5% or 50%? No idea, but it’s there. Just the fact that it’s this far is an indication that it’s opened his interest to the idea.
Tony is a brilliant guy. There’s a reason he’s never flirted or entertained the MLB path. He knows his skills and what an advantage they are at this level. He’s a relentless recruiter. There is no area in MLB where that translates. He controls his roster and every facet. He’s know that won’t happen. Sure, maybe he likes a challenge. The Giants aren’t the Marlins or the Diamondbacks after all.
