This isn’t a fire everyone thread. Sorry to disppoint.

I had a couple of very fundamental issues with the performance though.

1)Tackling. I’m not sure how we’re such a poor tackling team but that has to get fixed. Most likely this is actually a pretty good defense if we tackle better. The Georgia game is a for sure win and we have a chance at Bama with better fundamental tackling.
2)The call at the end of the first half. It’s not even a bad call when time isn’t an issue. It’s like we have a series of plays we choose from in a vacuum based on field position without consideration of time. It was a bad throw maybe with a better throw we score but likely not. Just felt like we didn’t put our players in a position to be successful. Even worse that we stuck with that call after Bama called a timeout.
3)The errant snap. Wtf even happened with that play? Why are we so ill prepared at times to execute basics?
4)I hate calling out players for individual play but damn Mike Matthews you have to catch the ball. This has been recurring on big plays. Miles K same deal.

I agree fully but I think your list could be longer

Agree 💯. But tackling and Mike Matthews and kistleman catching the ball probably won't get better. Also LB and safety play sucks

Definitely could be. Tackling though is just the most infuriating thing. How the hell do teams with 3 star players always seem to tackle more soundly than we do? This isn’t something just due to being tired we seem to struggle early and late in games to wrap up.

Safety play is crap. I have hope that LBs will improve; he has talent at that position they’re just young. Telander though I love his attitude but he’s a liability in coverage and that’s an understatement.

This was the biggest problem with that play. If you go back and watch it they read it all the way. They knew what was coming and we still didn’t adjust.

The play shouldn’t have even been called. At least the play action part. But JA is a 5th year QB. He should have seen that it wasn’t gonna work and threw it away.

Bama called a timeout basically just to make sure every player knew it was going to be pass and not get confused by the window dressing. Like if you have thirty seconds on the clock that’s a great play call bc they have to protect the run. Why we didn’t adjust is my question?

yep everyone in stadium and watching knew it would be a pass and we line up to fake them out that we were going to run and then we pass w bad personnel for pass. Horrible call but is what it is

I’m not even sure I would have hated spreading the field and handing it to RB even if didn’t make it.

I’m guessing Heupel was thinking well just kick the FG if it fails but damn I would’ve liked to see a higher percentage play there. We had no one on the field that had a chance of catching him when it blew up either.

Yes, the one thing happened that absolutely couldn’t happen in that scenario and it doomed us. If that play turned into a touchdown or field goal for us instead of a pick 6 we could have been in this game to the very end despite all of our self-imposed errors. That one play changed the whole game.

If it were a FG and we come out in the second half with a stop and a score like we did, we take the lead and all pressure shifts to them. I think at the end we likely still lose a close one bc they were going to be hard to beat at home with the home cooking but I would’ve liked to have seen how it went down.

If I am an offensive coordinator I am l licking my chops when Telander is one on one with a RB or TE.

There was NEVER going to be a FG attempt from the 2 yd-line. No. Not on that play or the following.

The call was probably ok when we had the element of surprise....and surprise it did...b/c Bama called a timeout.
BUT...during that entire timeout, it didn't dawn on us that running out the same play was asinine? We didn't have any other option available??? Of course they were ready for it given our limited options with the personnel.

I love Heupel, but I think perhaps it was the largest single mistake of his tenure.

Very good accessment of things. That is how to break things down and talk football. What’s frustrating is that most of these concerns are basic fundamental type of things. And is it me are do we take some crazy angles in pursuit of players sometimes. Our tackling and pursuing in space was hard to watch at times. Having said that, overall the D gave up 27 points and no way our offense shouldn’t have done better against their D. Much of the same on O, dropping easy passes and making silly pre snap penalties. It has to stop, we are own worst enemy a lot of the time. GBO

I agree the tackling was awful. They bump into the runner expecting him to go down.

The play call on the pick 6 was puzzling. I would have rather seen a 4 WR set with a QB draw in that situation.

The bad snap was weird, I don't know who made the mistake there.

The WWE move on Aguilar's neck was bush league and should have been a flag.

I also don't understand why a flag wasn't thrown on the safety. Aguilar was clearly on the ground, the ball was gone, and the bama defender dove on him.

Bottom line is they were the better team Saturday. And, like uga, until we prove otherwise, they still are.

Vandy being ranked in the top 10 for the forst time since 1947 is wild.

On to Kentucky.

Maybe we ought to look at 3 and 4 star players a little more. I bet they feel that they have something to prove. Our 5 star players haven't always panned out to their expectations. Just my opinion, so be kind.

Frustrating bc this was a very beatable Bama team. We completely self destructed.

Also I should put out there Bishop deserved better bc he played his ass off last night.
the runningback rotation is driving me crazy. its like none of these analysts or coaches look at their players statistics. Lets look at the success rate of Peyton Lewis series vs DeSean Bishop series.

DeSean Bishop is averaging 9 yards a carry. Peyton Lewis 3.6. Star Thomas 5.4. Yet I think Peyton Lewis
