The fear here is do they get James Franklin? It's no secret that Lane Kiffin has been after it or Saban coming out. I do not like this news.
See this is why I think Florida sucks as a job right now. A lot like UNC imo.I can almost 100% assure you it'll be someone from that list or someone I didn't mention of that "caliber".The UF insiders have essentially confirmed that this won't be Stricklin's hire, and he'll just be the mouthpiece who announces it for whomever the big boosters decide on. They want a "splash".
Pos wouldn't be on my list at all.
Who would be your 1 and 2? If either one is Kiffin who's the other one?
And assuming Fl still wants to be cheap(er) Golesh wouldn’t break the bank.
Danny may be out within a yearThis seems more of a Danny White hire approach.
But, can you imagine Golesh at FL and playing Heup' Vols? Gazillion offensive plays in the game, defenders sucking up so much oxygen that even the fans can't breathe.
Anyway, I have a hunch within two years Danny is no longer at UT. Maybe he'll replace the dude at FL.
My question is how many of the so called "homerun hires" have actually turned out to be that over the last several years. There is an argument to be made that the best Head coach hires over the last five years are Josh Heupel and Curt Cignetti and neither of those were considered "homerun" hires of any sort. You might could add Kalen DeBoer to that list but I think the jury is still out a bit on him with the way last season went, as well as the Florida State game this year. These schools can’t afford to wait after Penn State made the first move. There are only so many homerun type hires to go around and now it’s going to become an arms race for the top candidates.
I’m surprised Auburn hasn’t pulled the plug on Freeze yet.
And that will be the end of my love for the Vols. Same goes for Franklin. I’ll never cheer for either of those bums.Mullen lovers, if he waits long enough, UT may come knocking in a year or two.
He just wouldn’t have gotten caught.I thought Currie could have been great AD had he landed Mullen in 2017 search. After Schiano Sunday, I wanted Kiffin back since he was the only coach lobbying for the job in public media. Especially once we were down to Dave Doeren, Mel Tucker, and Jeremy Pruitt.
Regardless of feelings on Kiffin, no one with any brain cells would say Kiffin would have done anything similar to the Pruitt years.
Go to a Subway that makes popcorn. Only movie theater is better. LolHmmm...Florida AD needs to get this one right or he's next.
- Gotta at least kick the tires on Golesh. He knows the SEC, and recruits well.
- Don't think UF would want a "recycled" coach at this point. They need a new name with a winning record.
- Kiffin's probably not interested, but he might use the UF opening to get a raise.
- Franklin is an obvious choice. Probably love to come back south, and he knows the SEC.
- Be surprised if Brohm left UL.
- Maybe the OC at a school like tOSU, Oregon, Bama, or Indy?
No idea, but there are a lot of dominos (jobs) down in P4. Gonna be fun to watch the scramble to see who can get who first.
Edit: Be very surprised if it's an NFL OC/DC. What with the complications of NIL and the Portal, you'd be a fool to leave the relative stability of the NFL for this crap.
Guess I'll grab one of those State Fair sized bags of popcorn on the way home tomorrow.
He'd leave for the right price and or reassurements. Florida is an elite job where you can win National Championships, there really are less of those out there then people think. Sure, the pressure is immense, but so is it at every other top job out there, and this is one of those coveted "leave where you are, even if it's good situation" type of jobs. That said, he's not my first choice, but he'd listen if there was serious interest.Brohm is never leaving Louisville. It's his alma mater.
