Pre-season, early season, mid season, post season, I'm happy to see the team on the floor during any of it.

Knowing it's just a scrimmage and it shouldn't be taken seriously is thrown out the window as soon as they start keeping score. I want to hear who won and by how much. LOL. I don't see losing by 25 in the half court in 1 quarter, let alone several.

But either way, bring on the games, bring on the big dogs. Big orange is on the hunt.

That half-court scrimmage talk is dead now that it has been put into context. UNC quit after 3 quarters being down by 26 points and on pace to give up 90 points in a full-court scrimmage.
Tennessee didn’t know about their team/staff preparing to quit playing a full-court scrimmage for four quarters until kicking their tail for three quarters of 30 minutes of action after flying to their gym to play a full scrimmage. They weren’t happy about it.
So that half-court talk is irrelevant.. we probably just made sure we had five players out their during that session and told them to try to avoid getting any injury after the opposing team quit at the end of the full-court scrimmage down 69-43. Go look at this from Skim and read the post reactions on X.
This was BTA by Coach Caldwell and the Lady Vols against #11 AP ranked UNC

You also posted "Practice or not it means something when one team is getting beat and quit. You don’t allow quitting in practice so that doesn’t apply👆."

How do you know this or are you making assumptions? All that I know is that they played 3 quarters. I wondered myself if fatigue played a role. How do we know that there was not a format agreement that was adhered to. I'm not saying anyone is wrong.....just that we don't know the particulars of the SECRET scrimmage.

Everything being reported is second hand hearsay. We don't know what the terms were or specifically why they decided to mix it up after 3 quarters.

We are in silly season where people are dying for some action but no reason to get to all worked up about a scrimmage game. It seems that the LVs were clicking, which is definitely preferred to not clicking.

I think having this scrimmage at this point was the perfect antidote to what Kim called "the dark days" period after weeks of hard practices with no real games coming super soon. Both Caldwell and Banghart are smart to administer this energy booster at this point, 'cause maybe the players will quickly find another gear before the season starts. And with NCST looming large, they need any boost they can get to be ready to go early.

Tennessee dominated the scrimmage to the point where it ended after three quarters. That has been officially reported.
All that is left to see this high powered offense that was on pace to score 90 points with 8 newcomers against the AP Ranked #11 team translate it into the regular season …
Tennessee nearly scored as many points in a 3 quarter scrimmage as NC State scored in a 4 quarter scrimmage.

I don't agree with it, but the logical side of me can see a coach calling off a scrimmage like this after being out-scored by a large margin. Fatigue could play a role. Often time fatigue leads to injuries and no coach wants that. Also confidence can play a role. Calling it good and regrouping might be a reason as well. Although at this level, teams should take their medicine, all of it.

Either way, good for both coaches to see their teams in a game type setting this early. I don't know why I missed UNC being so high in the preseason polls, but I'll blame my age, haha.

That said, this result has at least some face validity in that Kim focuses so much early on getting the players ready for her fast-paced full court system rather than a focus on a half-court approach. I remember last year it took several games until half court passing such as the frequent Cooper to Spearman assist or the pernitrate and kick out passes started happening with regularity. Our half-court defense also got better after a very slow start, as we had to learn better spacing and when to get out of the press. Even though it probably doesn't mean mich of anything, I still would prefer the full court "win" than a half-court win.

And, again, much of the scrimmage was situational, with situations agreed to in advance by the coaches based on what they wanted/needed their teams to work on.

Nobody called off the scrimmage, they had agreed to certain parameters coming in.

Focus on contracts, this has been reported online and stated that Tennessee coaches did not anticipate the change in format from full scrimmage ending after just 3 quarters to half-court. They weren’t exactly welcoming of the switch taking place either as you want to make it seem.
As stated and something you plus a few other keep missing, no coach is taking their team on a multiple hour flight back and forth just to play a 30 minute full-court scrimmage.
No other teams reported playing a half-court scrimmage and 3 quarter full-court scrimmage.
Believe what you want to, it’s not changing my mind. You don’t have to tell me how you feel about it.
You like to make stuff seem as if Coach Caldwell call you to report this stuff.
There’s always more than one side to a story.

I don’t care who has “reported online“ that’s not what happened. From two people who were there and watched it in person, they agreed in advance to not play a traditional four-quarter game. Nobody was taken off guard. You can take it or leave it.

They also didn’t fly there, as you stated. They drove.

I’m on what you’re on. The few other posters can take that goofy talk on.
Tennessee went down there and was beating these folks by 26 points up 69-43 after three quarters so they called it off. I don’t care if they walked, drove, or took a plane they called it off and that’s what the consensus is across social media.
Not only Barker but Cooper, Jaida Civil, Lazaria Spearman and Deniya Prawl just to name a few can all get a bucket by any means. Then they have Mia Pauldo as their Zeigler! Nya Robertson, Kaniya Boyd, Mya Pauldo. Athletes Jersey Wolfenberger, Alyssa Latham, Ruby Whitehorn, Lauren Hurst, and Kaiya Wynn.

The Skim page on X right now has social media in a frenzy after the official results show the Lady Vols dominated UNC.. I do hope UNC can go on to have a good year for themselves and this Lady Vols team can have a 100% healthy season.
