Heupel’s weight and facial scruff

I have a friend that is a lower level college head football coach and even at that the time that is required is insane. It is definitely a profession that makes it hard to be a healthy and fit person. You absolutely have to make it a priority and it’s so hard to do. It’s a personal thing for me and I have always thought he looks awful but if you win, nobody cares and when you don’t people care it’s just that simple.

Can the dude lose some weight? i mean for health reasons alone and it would probaly give him a little fire and energy on the sidelines during the games. He wasn’t a big dude in college best i remember. And also shave or grow a beard out make up your mind, his look is so slobbish looking and unprofessional right now for being a major head coach at a big university.
Dude get a life, gzzz!

This is the thanks CJH gets for making this program relevant again?

So you're comparing kids who play a game with Seal Team 6? Gotcha
Do you think most seal team instructors can still pass PT, clear rooms, and fire guns proficiently? They can. I’ve had the opportunity to train with some in my younger days. They can still set the example even though they may not be the best option for the field at 40-60 years of age.

This carries over to football and every profession really. You ever worked for someone you felt was a dope and wondered how they got the job? Wondered if they could do it themselves?

Heupel ain’t gotta be in heisman shape to set an example. But it also may not be in his best interest to look homeless and have a beer belly either.

it’s not to much to ask. he’s not coaching a high school team. he’s the CEO and face of a $100M business. Kiffin has understood this and lost weight when we got the OM job. People can say it appearances don’t matter but appearances affect results. People who are well kept and and in good physical shape command more respect.
Folks talked about Fulmers weight too. It only seems relevant when we lose. No one was saying Fat Boy Fulmer when we won it all in '98. No one was making threads about Heupels weight or coaching ablility after we beat Bama in '22.

Fulmer won a natty and was a consistent east division winner.

Heupel is probably facing his first real instance of the fan base getting a hint of apathy because it feels like Heupel has become a complacent coach. You just see how he carries himself each week. I will never understand how or why he just rolls over every time there is a BS call by the refs. He just takes it with zero pushback. Another glaring thing that is missing is his lack of creativity on offense.

Complacency killed Fulmer’s final years here.

Heupel needs to regain that excitement / passion that he had early on. On and off the field.

I think some of you are reading way too much into my comments. All I’ve said is that improves a person’s ability to lead and influence. I’ve never said you can’t win if you’re fat.

..... really? is this a new low?

Outside of uncontrollable health issues, there is a correlation between weight and self control.

I can’t think of the last coach who won it all who was over weight. Urban, Saban, Day, Miles were all fit for their age. I think the last overweight coach to win was Fulmer. If I’m wrong someone feel free to correct me.
