Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

bring me Venables as DC please
Really dont want to change the staff. Frankly up to this year ive been fairly defensive of Banks. But the calla this year have been bad, secondary is really really bad. Understand injuries happen, but they happen to everyone. Why isnt recruiting better? And it isnt just jimmys and joes. LBers and Safety continually... know what. We all have heard it 1000 times. No sense in belabouring it.

Switch him to safety. He was a 5 star safety and what Ga wanted him for. We got him as a 4 star WR cause we said he could play O. If not, cut him and take the money and get a real safety. SHOW ME THE MONEY.
Same as Jauan Jennings. . . except it turned good for the offense with him. I believe he would've been an all-american safety though. Maybe Mike just doesn't like tackling or something, but he is built to be a dang good safety, imo.

Heupel doesn’t need to be fired, but it is frustrating to be five years into his tenure and still watching undisciplined football. Going into the game, most people mentioned the importance of not beating yourself because Alabama doesn’t make mistakes. They don’t turn the ball over. And they play clean football.

I know there is still a talent gap, but it’s not massive. We didn’t lose because of talent issues. We lost because we still can’t get the fundamentals right. I need to see Heupel make some type of change on the staff this off-season to show that these mistakes need to be fixed and he’s doing something about it.
Heupel doesnt need to be fired. But, some staff changes need to be made.

He's an über-talented true Sophomore! So he isn't as clutch as Brazzell. He's also not supposed to be at this point! We have great wide receiver coaches on the staff. These guys are getting developed. Matthews has largely played well this year! It just seems many focus way more on a handful of mistakes. Perspective! It's so valuable!

Not going to happen. There are millions of reasons. Players would likely stick around for the most part. Most teams who fired coaches to this point lost very few players. UCLA lost none. These players are being paid to play. If they don't play, they don't get paid. Guys who are redshirting and hitting the portal around the country are betting on themselves. You'll notice that trend isn't confined to teams with fired coaches.
I said lagway. Not anyone else. He stayed for Billy. And I just don’t see them being motivated like Arkansas after firing him (if they do). Arkansas has played with juice since firing Pittman. I don’t think that will happen at Florida. IMO

I then went on to make a general point at why we don't see exactly what you predicted in general.

Lagway's NIL is coming from

Jordan Brand
Red Bull
Chipotle
and several other corporate interests I forget. It's going to be there next year too if he sticks around.

You said players would still play and UCLA didn’t lose anyone after a change. And players (not player) are being paid to play so they have too. So it implied numerous players. That’s why I said I only said lagway and I still think he likely enters. They kept Billy largely for lagway as he would have left if Billy was fired last year. Guess we shall see. All my opinion and speculation.

I mentioned it Thursday/friday when someone posted the Miami fans fighting after their loss. I really don’t understand fans fighting each other, even online - take a hint everyone, as if it is good in any way shape or form. Argue with someone about the program/ team and game stuff all day, but yall calling each other names and hurling insults at each other is silly. It’s one thing to call someone out for being a nega, but the personal attacks and internet beef stuff is unnecessary and quite frankly, boring. Happy for you that you’ve moved to the anger stage of grief so quickly, but can we please get back to talking about Tennessee and not each other? Thanks.

What I'm trying to explain to you, and I don't know any better way to do it, is that Lagway's NIL is substantial and it's going to be there for him next year UNLESS he transfers. He would have to get a huge offer from someone to bolt and I don't think he's impressed enough to attract that kind of interest. Part of the divide in the Florida locker room has said to be the disparity in the amound DJ makes vs. the rest of the team. He's got plenty of incentive to stick around. Billy is not what attracted Lagway to Florida. It was the $.

It’s not. Watch it again. The guy was 2 steps from kits and watching Joey the whole time. Joey had another guy to the right of him in his face and another guy directly in front of him. He had zero chance of completing that play, it should have been in the stands tho

You think passing from a jumbo package when the entire stadium knows you’re about to run a play action is a good idea?
"One of the worst play calls of all time" is an exaggeration. That's all I'm saying. The guy made a great play on the ball, and Joey was telegraphing that throw. He should have just fired it through the uprights

Again, I say this game came down to one single play. Brutal play for us but the way some of our fanbase is acting is ridiculous

17 points is not 1 single play.

Losing by 17 when the stat line looks like you won the game points out that what you do in the key critical moments of a game is the difference in winning and losing.

Why some fans are acting ridiculous is because in both losses coaches and players F’d up in the critical moments.
