In my opinion, last night the defense did it's job to bring home a victory. Were there issues? Yes. 2 90+ td drives was not a good look. But this defense is not suppose to be a smothering shut teams out defense. It's suppose to be a defense that does enough to let the offense win. Given how fast our offense plays and how much time our defense is on the field, it's nieve to expect anything other than what we had last night. The offense lost us the game. Just strictly based on our philosophy of play. Granted, Martinez has to go. Maybe even Banks. But I'd be willing to give Banks another shot with a competent secondary coach that perhaps teachs the dbs to turn their heads.

I asked in a thread if people would take us scoring our average of 38 points per game in conference play and most said we’d need more to win because of our defense.

We held them to 28 points and the offense spotted Bama another 9. Defense was hardly the issue last night.

I would say I thought they looked good at times but the play when bama tried the double pass and dude eluded 4 tackles in the backfield is probably a more accurate representation of where we are. We’ve got 4-5 decent players in the front 7 and maybe one guy on the backend that shows up. That leaves too many other guys that are just honestly liabilities.

Man, regardless, our D was atrocious. Was it their talent was better? Is our coaching bad? Did our D get tired? Is there a single excuse for the D to have been that bad or, is it a single reason?

Our linebackers definitely lack lateral speed. I feel like it’s the same story every week with those guys.

The defense is so bad, it’s hard to tell exactly what needs to be done. I think first and foremost, no matter you position, is learn how to tackle. I haven’t seen one player who knows how to wrap with his arms and drag to the ground
