My thinking is we need help to get in the 12.

(1) Group of five likely =South Florida
(3) B1G locks= Ohio St, Indiana, Oregon
(2) ACC locks = Georgia Tech, Miami
(3) SEC locks = A&M, Georgia, Bama
(1)Big 12 who knows but they get someone 😂

So for the final 2 I am placing Ole Miss as even if they lose to Oklahoma they will be ranked so high. Notre Dame always gets the nod and it also helps their 2 losses were to begin so they get to ascend while everyone else beats up one another later in year.
(2) At large remaining Ole Miss, Notre Dame

(12) thats the field the way I see it playing out even if we win out which is entirely possible. I just see that we will need a lot of help. Based off what Notre Dame and Ole Miss have left I think we get left out.

What thoughts do you have about this. Believe me when I say I am not saying I want this to be the scenario. I just see an unlikely path in to the CFP.

We definitely need help, playoff be damned

Volnation is going to will us into the playoffs!

Instead of playing in a winnable bowl game down in Florida where we can chill on the beach and be excited about next year, we will be in the cold and miserable North or North East lamenting on which coaches we need to move on from for next year.

I still think the SEC gets 4 teams in and the Big Ten gets 3 teams in.

For us to get in, we need to get to that 4th place in the standings. Right now it is A&M, Bama, Georgia, Ole Miss

Below is a grid of teams left to play with ranked games. The good thing for us is that there will be a lot of consolidation over the next few weeks.

Tennessee still has one of the easier schedules left compared to those teams between. The best case for us in short term is Oklahoma winning against Ole Miss as it does 2 things. Knocks Ole Miss down to the 2 loss spot, but would ensure OU is likely a Top 10 one loss team when they come into Neyland. A win vs a 1 loss OU (compared to a 2 loss OU) would put us back in the top 12 range.

I really believe the likes of Vandy, Missouri, Oklahoma will all feast on each other and wind up with 2-3 losses by the end of the season. I think Ole Miss with a loss vs OU is on outside looking in at 10-2 considering the teams left on their schedule being ass after OU. Bama should knock LSU to the 3 loss line. Texas A&M should knock Texas to 3 loss line.

From there, I believe that the 4th place in the SEC standings will come down to Ole Miss (if they lose to OU) and Tennessee.

Tennessee doesn't lose in Neyland to schools not named Georgia. The pivot game for our playoff chances is Florida. Hopefully Napier is out and a bunch of opt outs hit as they won't be bowl eligible.

Playoff?

We better square ourselves away and find some discipline, both coaches and players, because it’s not going to be easy to win the state championship at this point.

This is not a playoff team. We are not disciplined. We aren't great at the fundamentals of the game. Wrs and TEs drop too many passes. Defense is straight trash.

Playoffs? Who's taking about playoffs?

If we win out (which I don't expect at all) it's quite probable our only two losses will be to what will then be #2 and #3 in the rankings. same as Notre Dame only better.

Look at the playoff thread I made, it is pretty indicative of what we need...

SEC will get 4 or 5....if we win out we are in...ACC is NOT locks for 2 and neither is ND...and USF isn't winning the AAC

This is not a playoff team. Probably. We pi$$ed away any margin for error we had when we choked in regulation against Georgia.

Alabama is a good team. Losing on the road down there was tough but not necessarily unexpected.

Assuming we can hold serve at home, we haven’t seen anything to make us think that the game in the Swamp will result in anything different than a loss. Yes, Florida isn’t good but this team finds ways to lose at Florida. A 3-loss Tennessee (most likely case, at least) isn’t making the cut.

But who knows? That’s why they play the games.

Love my vols but we won't win out. We keep making the same mistakes . We had more rushing and passing total yards than Bama and lost because of self inflicted mistakes and penalties.

Screenshot_20251019_090917_Google.jpgOur playoff chances mean we need to climb this ladder over the next 4 weeks. We need those who beat us, and those who we don't play, to lose more than we have. And we basically need to win out. Good luck with that. Bottom half of the league currently... 🤦‍♂️

Not really. A lot of teams in front of us play each other. We have the easiest schedule maybe other than A&M to end the season.

There will be a LOT of consolidation among 1 and 2 loss teams in the next 3 weeks or so.

Really. That easy schedule has no impact wins left on it but one potentially. As opposed to 2 impact losses.

But more importantly, what is the path to rise above Texas a&m? We already know we can't catch UGA & Bama. You gotta hope for a total collapse by Ole Miss Oklahoma and Missouri. Lot's of prayers need answering...

we absolutely need help. even if we win out the rest of the year we #1 won't make it to the SECCG and #2 lost our two toughest games and now Bama and Georgia have an advantage over us.
