Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I’m not either but the Hype has got to make some staff and other changes.
I think the Hypel needs to continue to learn from his mistakes and grow as a coach. What happens with the staff is part of that I guess. Regardless of how last night looked, if they win out they are in the playoffs. A missed FG from only one loss. That’s insane to say after all the cancer from the WR room being told to hit the road and Nico bailing. We lost Samson and some other key people to the NFL and our best DBs are injured.
To be in this position after all that is insane. We’d have 4 loses with any other of our coaches from the last 35 years

I fell asleep before halftime. After reading this am, looks like that was a better use of time.
I guess this will be another good year but not a great year. Considering everything, I'm good with that.
I watched it all.
And it went about like I expected.
The pick 6 was the difference. That’s 10-14 point swing.
We scored on the last play (they didn’t give it to him but he scored) stats wise it was a dead heat. it was a better effort than most are giving credit for.

I didn't expect a win either. I only disagree from your previous post about winning out and in playoffs.
Uga, Bama, OM, tamu from SEC. Missouri ahead of us. Maybe the game against OU is for a "wilcard" position.

We’ve got 2-3 more losses left on the schedule, so the idea of returning to the playoffs is laughable.

The thing that pisses me off about this team and The Hypes teams is the lack of discipline. We have the talent on this team to be undefeated so far this season, we just don’t have the discipline and coaching.

2 loses in the second and you’re in the playoffs.
I would show my work but as I recall there can only be 3 at the end with 2 loses. Now having said that….i think road Hypel is still a work in progress so Florida will be a big stumbling block for a 2 loss Tennessee.

Again, it’s crazy that after our offseason that we’re even speculating on this.

We are as likely to run the table as we are to lose 2.
I think we lose 1 so it’s a irrelevant point from my pov

It's too early in the am to go through all the iterations for me. I anticipate 1 more loss anyway.

We were a missed FG away from only due to undisciplined play, bad defense (gave up 500 yrds) and going conservative in the 2nd half. Should have won the UGA game by a touchdown or two.

Yes
We agree he needs to continue to improve but that doesn’t change the amazing job he’s doing this season after the dumpster fire of the offseason

So Mattews drops 2 balls in a row and kills our team. Lmao. The defense is lights out.

We are gonna be 136 out of 136 teams in dropped balls after this game. Clinging to 135th.

We are the #1 scoring offense in the nation....but 135th in dropped passes. Lmao

I don't know why we keep Pope. He has a bad track records of player relations and we consistently have major drop issues every year.

Means little if we can't develop them.
That's right. There's been no development.

I think what you're trying to express is that they haven't been developed enough. Here's what I've learned about developing people, it is a collaborative effort. My success rate is 100% when the other person has a "whatever it takes attitude".

Both of these are true IMO.
We probably finish 9-3 like the majority of VN posters thought preseason in the poll.

People trashing our coaches etc right now (i havent even been to the FF but i know) always do after a loss. How soon we forget the offseason, vegas o/u @ 7.5wins, and SEC media picking us 9th.

I think the reason people are so disappointed is that against all odds, this IS a really good team. When theyre on they are as good as anyone. The defense is improving. Thats encouraging.

“Lost it in the details”…..”At the end of the day…” . Same lame bs excuses.

Sometimes it’s not about losing but how you lose. Simple things are killing is. Play calling. Clock management. Catching, PENALTIES. Tackling.

I agree with both your posts regarding WRs, and at the same time...know Dink has a point

Pope just signed the #1 WR, #1WR class, and what may be the best WR class ever signed at UT when its said and done. 3 or 4 of them have the talent to be NFL WRs. The only reason I didnt just say all 4 is because Legend plays QB in HS and we don't yet know how he will transition. Amazing athletes. We absolutely are among the worst schools in the nation/SEC with dropped passes every year. Before last nights game I wouldn't have guessed we were 135th/136 though. Only because SOMEHOW Joey is still barely 2nd in the SEC in TD passes AND yards throwing for 300 per game. We definitely have an issue with drops...if it were as simple as more reps on the Jugs machine then we wouldnt have a problem. I don't know what the answer is but I don't think we should fire Pope now.

Very valid point about commitment and effort. Even Brazzell had drop issues last year. Dropped a LOT of balls. This season he has been great. What changed? Likely his commitment and effort.

You have no idea what "lack of discipline" looks like.
