True, but this move would make it generational in nature. Something that has never happened before. The timing to the first guy to leak has nothing to do with any single Tennessee event. I do understand your curiosity, though.

Perhaps as CTV is savvy and Jimmy Sexton is his agent. Sexton is the master negotiator and using leverage for his clients. However, it would be difficult to turn down an offer for the Giants so I’m sure CTV is torn regardless. If CTV stays, his reputation, recruiting, and the baseball budget will be greatly enhanced IMHO. The prior 2 are obviously already stellar but will be off the charts

Many will come to UT based on CTVs / UT’s reputation for winning and developing players for MLB, and will in turn accept less NIL money or revenue sharing. Others are looking for the highest bidder and CTV has told those to look elsewhere. TN doesn’t need a top 3 budget, but deserves at least a top 10 budget in the new era of revenue sharing to remain competitive with the big spenders.

He would have zero job security. It's so easy to see him being fired after one season. I honestly think it would be a mistake .... but I also fully understand why he would do it. Nothing but best wishes and gratitude for all he has done here if he does make the jump. I never thought a CWS title was possible at Tennessee. He changed everything.

I get it. What player doesn't dream of playing even minor league ball let alone MLB. If he is offered then certainly he has hit the point of being qualified. SF life is not the same as Columbia, Little Rock or Knoxville, and the job and security are not the same as college. Sure I want him to stay but as someone old enough to be his dad I do not want to see him make a mistake.

If he stays and we keep our program on top he could have a statue outside, maybe name the field after him. Given his age and future build he could go down as one of, if not the top, coaches in college baseball history. Would love to see him do it here.

I could see Coach Vitello in the major league game someday as a manager, however, I would not expect it to be in San Francisco coming right out of the gate, San Diego might be a better arrangement if he's ready to go now, but the ownership of the team is currently within the deceased owner's estate.

Nashville will be an MLB franchise city within the next 2 - 3 seasons. I would think Vitello would do well in a legacy NL franchise city like St. Louis, Los Angeles, Chicago or even New York if he wanted to deal with the New York media, but San Francisco organization, city, environment doesn't really seem like much of a fit for an intense baseball whiz like Tony Vitello.

I think this is what makes it especially tough. He knows that if he stays his reputation will skyrocket even more. It’s a pretty good recruit sell to be able to say “I turned down a MLB squad to stay here”.

I'm thankful that he lead us to a national championship. I never thought our baseball program could do that.

From the football perspective, now that Tony is gone, is this a chance to push additional funds to football? I know some will get mad at me even asking, but it seems pretty clear with us trying to feed 4 programs (football, MBB, WBB, and baseball) we have a lower salary cap in football than several programs. Football (and men's basketball to a lesser degree) are the money makers. And we take great pride in Women's College basketball.

Seems clear we need some more jimmys and joes on the gridiron to get to where we want to be in football.

We definitely need more depth to account for the season-ending injuries we seem to incur each year.
