Road to Playoffs IMO - Post Bama

Yesterday was ROUGH, but the truth is that we have only lost to 2 Top 10 teams—one by a FG in OT and the other at their place. The flip-side of that is we also haven’t beaten anyone of note. We need Oklahoma & Vandy to continue to play well so we’ll have 2 top 25 victories. 10-2 and there is still a chance we make it.

As I see it, 4/6 of these teams will be in the CFP:

Alabama
Georgia
Texas A&M
Ole Miss
Tennessee
Vandy

Realistically, Alabama, Georgia, and A&M are almost locks at this point, leaving only the 4th spot open. We need Ole Miss to fall to Oklahoma next Saturday, because I don’t see them losing another game on their schedule, and it helps us in common opponents.

If the season plays out like this, we have a chance:

1. Texas A&M: 12-0
2. Alabama: 11-1
3. Georgia: 11-1
4. Tennessee: 10-2
5. Vandy: 10-2
6. Ole Miss: 10-2
7. Oklahoma: 9-3

That makes our “best” losses & wins all in the top teams in the conference and we get in over 10-2 Ole Miss due to tougher schedule.

Ole Miss is the key. We need them to lose twice since we don’t play them. Notre Dame losing to potentially open up one more spot would also help.

lol you’re pretty far off with this “boomer” assumption. And as I said. You’ll see 14-15 in a black and white ranking tomorrow. But you won’t believe it and will make 137 excuses. Then when we drop another you’ll have more when we hit that 20 mark.

Mediocre isn’t a generation Ricky. It’s a mindset. And you full on embrace it.
again your refusal to answer a simple questions shows everyone yet again your true purpose here.

you can't answer it logically because you can't defend and don't want to go on actual record stating a team is better than Tennessee 😂

SEC only got 3 in last year because of Notre Dame and the fact that the B1G had 4 teams in. And then there was the SMU loss to Clemson which got both ACC schools into the mix.

Right now, the B1G has OSU, IU and Oregon in the mix. Notre Dame may make their way back into the conversation. There needs to be no surprises for the SEC to get 4.
The SEC should get 4 and COULD get 5 if the chips fall their way. We need enough chaos so the ACC and Big 12 only get one team. ND is in if they run the table, and the B1G will only get three - Oregon, OSU, Indiana.

Play hard and win out. Everything else takes care of itself. Several things to clean up but CJH has earned a little grace and if you don’t think so you’re either:

Less than 20 years old.
Delusional and impossible to please.
Or
Don’t know ball and are just impatient.

I mean we broke a new quarterback in after the spring portal unexpectedly. A few breaks on the injury front and that defense looks different. If anything we are overachieving this year. We laid an egg last night for sure and for us older people that hurts with it being Bama but all things considered we are doing better than almost anyone imagined. I leave you with this one question…. If a fortune teller would have told you in June that we would finish 10-2 or 9-3 and be in the conversation for a playoff spot would you have taken it?

If we win out, we are probably in the playoffs. The issue is that not a lot of us are confident this team can win out unless they start to fix their major glaring issues. We were lucky to survive Miss State.

IMO, that Georgia missed opportunity will bite us.
Losing to Georgia was awful. It will cost us a conference loss. The winning out stuff is wild. The theory that we somehow even deserve a playoff spot when we aren’t beating any of the good teams on our conference schedule is even wilder. Underwhelming Oklahoma would be our best win in that scenario. The playoff committee would be compelled because of what? 10-2? The T on the helmet?

We would need to be Top-4 in the conference, if they take 4 teams. Top-3 otherwise. The two title game participants make it. Then the next down the list....
We gotta long way to climb....

Right now, this team is nowhere near sniffing the playoffs. Not one good win on the resume. We would have to win out. The talks of that right now are ridiculous. Focus should be on the next game.
I agree one game at a time, but if UT goes 10-2 we are in the playoffs and those trying to pooh-pooh that are silly

I can’t believe the idiot national media is still trying to set the narrative for Notre Dame to get in this year

That's a big if and I wouldn't even worry about it at this time.

I've seen nothing that instills that much confidence. Just too many untimely execution mistakes.

No need to stand by. Check the rankings Monday. Then check them again after we drop another game, which we likely will. Then you’ll have your verified teams better than us. You’ll be able to take it from them, not me. Maybe you’ll believe them.
Would that be the same polls that consistently over ranked PSU, LSU, and FSU?

We don't need to be in the playoffs.
Can we accept that being in the playoffs is not an all or nothing proposition with where we are as a program? Say there’s no way we could compete for a title. Playoffs is still now the bar and where we need to be to continue to elevate as a program.

Contrary to what many of you appear to think, I believe a poor showing in the playoffs is still better than not making them at all.

All yall saying we don’t belong, we shouldn’t be there if we’re not going to win it all, blah blah blah. It’s like you want the program to go backwards and drift into mediocrity.

And because the SEC only had three 2 loss teams. The next three teams in the pecking order were all 9-3 SEC teams.
