The sad thing is we are a missed FG and pick 6 away from being the number 2 team in the country. Even with the Georgia loss, if we don’t throw that pick 6 we would be jumping up 5 spots due to all the top 10 teams losing. Penalties, nonexistent pass defense, OL getting blown up, Joey’s JUCO alter ego deciding to poke his head in to see what’s going on, brick hands for receivers, Bad News Bears tackling, horrendous goal line offense. We honestly should have won that game by two scores but the amount of mistakes made us lose by 3 instead.
All around bad game.
Throw some coaching decisions and management in there as well.
We better buckle up and get ready for the next one.

Sometimes safe and conservative is the best option... Kicking the FG and being down 10-16 with some momentum going into half in my eyes was the thing to do but I'm not the coach...
I 100% wanted 3 in that situation.
My wife told me to hush, I was screaming so much at the tv.
Coaches no longer coach on instinct, it’s all about stupid charts.

I didn’t have a problem going for it. You play to win. But the playcalling in that situation was awful.

The LOM will tighten the leash and Heup will start feeling it.
This is the point where a portion of the fan base decides that he isn’t capable of “winning a natty” and are pulling their short list of coaches out of the top drawer of their armchair athletic director desk
All ready has. Check out the FF ...

I’d rather get SMU’d than lose tony so as a perceived member of the LOM, I don’t even give a **** we lost last night

I know it sounds stupid to say this after the fact, but I had a gut feeling that 3 points was a win right there.
But instinct should be deciding factor. I get going for 2 when occasionally but this constant going for it on 4th and 6.

Tennessee had no timeouts remaining, Alabama knew we were going to pass the ball because if you run it and get stopped the clock runs out..

Hell, taking a sack would’ve been a better alternative than a pick 6 lol. I was hoping and praying Bishop was going to tackle him with time ran out but didn’t have enough gas to get there.
He had enough gas but just got juked at the stutter step at the end and didn’t take the best angle. He still almost tripped him up.

Agreed. Play action was really not the play during that situation. Bama’s timeout after they saw UT’s formation was smart as the defense was told, watch the outlet pass.

Should have called time out at 25 seconds. Then you would have had much better options for play calling. Really bad clock management

I already have some friends that wanted him gone after the Georgia game. It took beating Alabama in 2022 for them to be “alright” with Heupel as coach. It’s impossible to talk sense into these fans with unrealistic expectations. And whenever you try to list all of Heupel’s accomplishments since he has been here they just say, “well you’re just ok with mediocrity and 8-4 and 9-3 seasons.” You’re damn right I’m cool with those seasons because I know what the 5-7 seasons feel like 😂

People have ZERO patience anymore. CJH took over this dumpster fire and has brought it back to respectable... Are the Vols championship caliber team now? No. But that doesn't mean it can't happen in the next few seasons. Some are slobbering over 2026, I believe 2027 is the year we make big noise in College Football...
