Why is this even considered a Rivalry?

Alabama has 6 National Titles and 9 SEC Titles since 2000 and has gone 18-7 against Tennessee in that span.

This isn't a "rivalry" because Tennessee is a dog crap program that doesn't even deserve to hold a program like Alabama's jock strap. We are more on par with Arkansas, Miss State, South Carolina, etc. Programs that can't win the SEC or National Titles.

We can have an 11-2 season here and there but we never are the team anymore and probably never will be.

2 and 2 over the past 4 years and if you look back over the long term, this rivalry has always been one of streaks. But you go ahead and act like a 2 year old throwing a tantrum if it makes you feel better

I wish there was more knowledge about Robert Neyland. To bad technology didn’t evolve back then. This games loss is on Heupel.
You know, I wonder if the Single Wing would be more successful?

Then again, if we held all opponents under 20 points for the entire season, we would probably go undefeated.

They get NATIONAL TITLES... we don't. We had a single 1 with Fulmer (which took a lucky fumble by Arkansas to get), they got 5 with Saban, 1 with Stallings, and 5 or 6 with Bryant before that. We are NOT on the same level.

They dominate us in ever College Football Metric ever. They should redo Third Saturday Rivalry and have it Alabama vs. LSU or Alabama vs. Georgia. Pick a program that is better than Tennessee.

Well we do have more wins versus Alabama than any other college football program and it's not even close except for their little brother Auburn. If not for the last 20 years Auburn wouldn't even be close. They're the standard in college football bar none and they consider us their biggest rival. Third Saturday in October is the biggest game in college football. It aint much but it's all I got. We got em next year in Neyland. They're not invincible and could've been beaten tonight.

Yeah, I don't understand why though. Florida, Georgia, and LSU all have more Championships in recent history and, frankly, are better programs than Tennessee. Prior to Heupel, we were about on par with Mississippi State.

I know all about Neyland. Do you take Minnesota, Sewanee, Yale, etc. as serious football programs? Neyland was over 75-100 years ago. Half his coaching career was pre-World War II. Nobody was alive then. There wasn't TVs, recruiting, etc. What has Tennessee been since the iphone was invented?

Should have put this one on Ignore long ago. Fixing that problem now along with 4 or 5 others.

It's not a rivalry and that is the point. They have owned UT since Saban got there. There was short term success when Shula was coaching there but for the most part in my life they have beaten us pretty often.

You must be really young - I remember us beating them a lot. They were lucky to get Saban - had he not tried the NFL for those 2 years; he would have never left LSU.

It sure seems the average IQ of VolNation drops 20 points or more after a loss.

What is incorrect about my statement? We are NO where close to Alabama in any meaningful football metric. Heck, we can't even beat Georgia (9 straight) and Florida (haven't won in Swamp since 2003) consistently.

We get punked in the Post Season (Ohio State) in embarrassing fashion.

Program is just not good, a poor man's Penn State.

None of those teams have more National Championships than Tennessee and none of them have come close to beating Alabama as many times as we have.

Tennessee has two recognized by AP 1998 and 1951

Georgia has two just under Smartt plus 1980. Georgia also has more SEC Championships than Tennessee all-time

LSU has three this Century (2003, 2007, 2019)

Better programs. Tennessee was a DOMINATE program in the 1950s and before but so was Minnesota, Yale, etc. No one cares about that by gone era anymore. Tennessee should be measured on what they have done this Century which is NOTHING.

So basically this isn't a rivalry ... because of Nick Saban, then, right? Because everything you're complaining about there is due to Nick Saban, who will go down as the greatest coach in modern football history.

Without Nick Saban the series history between Tennessee and Alabama would be 43-38 in favor of Alabama. The only reason Alabama has the lead it has is because of Saban. Which is something he did to every other program in college football too - not just poor old Tennessee. Tennessee just had the misfortune of being the permanent cross-division rival to Nick and his car dealerships.

I'm not even gonna bother with the dog crap comment. There's no statistical comparison to be made between the program histories of Tennessee and Arkansas, or Mississippi State, or South Carolina. It's not even close enough to bother with.

LOL you forget Bear Bryant as well who won MORE titles than Tennessee all-time as well and dominated Tennessee.

Gene Stallings won won as well in 1992. Going off the claimed titles even before Saban, Alabama had 12 to Tennessee's 6. That is twice as much. They also had twice as many SEC Titles. You also fail to point out that 75% of Tennessee's success is 1950s and earlier.

Even Pre-Manning era, Alabama was sporting something like 10-11 years of constant wins over Tennessee. Tennessee has NEVER done that to any of our rivals not named UK and Vandy.
