'25 Recruiting Forum: Official TSIO Alabama vs Tennessee Pre-game/Game Thread

How do you know this? He had his QB dip out in Spring on him and he’s still got a shot at the playoffs this year.

Has a future star commited at QB and WR. It’s year 5 after taking over a dumpster fire. If we’re at year 10 coming up short still, have that conversation. But it’s just too premature.
Nothing is absolute. I understand that. But you have to admit, his first 5 years would more mirror results of a Penn State arc compared to a premier team's arc.

I'm not saying he can't adapt and become more in the future. But it would be ignorant to say what we have seen would indicate we can push through to the next level and be legitimate championship contenders.

If anything, Heupel has regressed in savvy coaching that made him exciting in the last few years.

I genuinely hope the trajectory shifts. But, as of now, I don't see us being in that end of year conversation . At least legitimately.

I want nothing more than to be wrong and eat crow.

Yes it is. Don’t call a dumb a** play and run the ball then. Our coach called a terrible play. But keep making excuses for an a** kicking

If we ran and got stopped and loss by 3 people would be just as pissed. Let’s be honest here. I don’t think it was a good play call. I would have ran 10/10 times. Joey made a poor pass. It is what it is. Joey is mentally tough kid, I bet he’s already took all the responsibility. I’m not going to give up on him or this these players. If this is an ass kicking, then our standards have come a long way from what actual ass kickings were. I remember being down 28 points to bama I’m the first half multiple times. That’s an ass kicking

Congrats on your kid sir. Very happy for you. I raised a son and daughter on the Dooley and Butch years. You've got it made rn. Kids and life ground us from losses like this when we allow it.
Facts. Our kids see how we handle stuff life throws at us.

My 3yr old loves watching games with me. It's so much fun for her. When we score she jumps up and down and we scream Rocky Top. When they score she yells "Uh! Not again!" then goes back to drawing or playing. If we win we celebrate HARD then go do something else like it didn't happen. If we lose we say "oh well, that's sad" then we go do something else like it didn't happen.

We don't let it affect the rest of our day either way! The only way that girl would have a bad day is if we didn't score a single point because it would mean she didn't get to jump up and down and scream Rocky Top just once with her dad.

There's so much bigger stuff in life. If you cant regulate emotions over a game you can't regulate emotions on the playground, or at work, or in traffic, etc

I'm taking a step back from the ledge. Heupel has us in a better place than he found it. But man after tonight I think some introspection and future tough decisions are warranted. This game was poorly managed and called at multiple points tonight and they definitely swung the momentum toward Alabama.

No, I didn't think we should fire him but damn he and or those he has calling plays has to be better.
Major staff upgrades that elevate the program (think Saban hiring Lane Kiffin) instead of mid internal promotions like Halze. Not even mentioning the defensive staff decencies. Otherwise we will stick with a 10-2 and a playoff loss max ceiling under Heupel and co. Still a major improvement from the dark ages of the 2010’s. But tonight’s disaster class was a flashback straight from that era 🤮

Ok...this team is so full of unrealized potential but they are so undisciplined, and that's becoming a pattern for Heupel's teams. As frustrating as it is to watch this defense give up plays, I'm more frustrated by all the dumb mistakes. We blow our own toes off in these big games. When we've won these games, it has been in spite of our mistakes...not because we played disciplined. At some point Heupel has to put more of a focus on fixing this. The margin for winning is narrower than ever...these dumb mistakes are magnified now and they can easily be the difference between winning and losing. We've got the horses to compete now. We can't keep helping the other team this much.

I just don’t think the situations are that comparable. Franklin took over a much better situation and he came up short for years and years. Hell most people didn’t expect a bowl game until year 3. I just think respective is important here.

100% facts. I’m in the same mindset and situation as you are.

I believe Inge is a great coach but his linebackers have been undisciplined as hell this season and it has cost us.

We need more and better talent in secondary. I don’t know how else to say it. Yeah if McCoy and Gibson are healthy maybe it’s a different story, but that duo also got worked in the playoffs last year. And you can’t win on just starters. Hell if hood wasn’t here we woulda beat uga literally have the worst defensive backfield in the sec.

I believe farooq can be a dude but it looks like an awful decision not to pay jakobe thomas enough to stay and we are desperately in need of an experienced talent influx both at safety (priority 1) and cornerback. Find the money and go buy another McCoy and find yourself a leader at safety whatever it takes, no excuses. Hell you’re gonna maybe need another veteran linebacker too assuming we lose Carter to draft.

Horribly let down tonight.

Some of you guys are toxic as hell and ****ing losers
Get on twitter and bitch or go write your emails to Danny white to make yourselves feel better
Your best bet would be to quit cheering for the Vols until we get a new coach that way you won’t be so unhappy

Guarantee all you bitching and complaining will be here all week and the rest of the season
Cchhheeeeiiitttt, they are going to complain no matter what. The pick 6 was a killer, momentum and point swing wise. Joey had bad placement on the ball. That cannot be behind the receiver.

Heup is here until Faizon, Keys etc junior year. He’s here 3-4 more seasons minimum.

This loss hurts because we lost to Georgia due to a missed game winning FG. This loss hurts because we can’t get out of our own way. One playcall and smarter decision from a LB and it’s a whole different game.

I mean... did he? Penn State was still dealing with the fall out from the Sandusky issues. He walked into sanctions. He started in 2014 and wasnt permitted to have a full roster of 85 until 2016.

Beyond that, Franklin had to restore the reputation of Penn State with parents from those issues. He had that 2 year buffer from Bill O'brian. But he didn't do much while there.

If anything, there feels to be a ton of similarities from my perspective.

Lol calling out and trashing your fellow Vols calling them toxic as hell and losers is, quite ironic.

No shite they/we are gonna be here next week and all season. It’s why we’re here in the first place, to discuss every aspect of our team good and bad and yeah after that rigged abomination of a game it’s gonna be negative. I hope we stay on here and don’t take to twitter as you suggested.

Maybe go to bed if you can’t take reading it. You calling them names ain’t gonna stop em.

A loss to bama is the worst loss there is. This one hurts real bad, just like the last one here, and the one with jg, and the one butch, and the one with kiffin, because DESPITE a rigged game where we knew we’d have to beat them and the refs, we were good enough to do it and in position to do it throughout the game and didn’t get it done, with some mind boggle play calls and lack of execution to boot. So yeah, I’m gonna bitch and moan, cause this one hurts like hell.

See you, and the rest of ya Morans, next week.

This was literally the dumbest defensive call I think I’ve ever seen…don’t even know where to start. The lb’s running 15 yards deep and forgetting the tight end or the deep nickel blitz or the fact that this wouldn’t have even covered the receivers going deep on the right as one of them was wide open the entire time too, it was all so dumb.
