Nothing is absolute. I understand that. But you have to admit, his first 5 years would more mirror results of a Penn State arc compared to a premier team's arc.How do you know this? He had his QB dip out in Spring on him and he’s still got a shot at the playoffs this year.
Has a future star commited at QB and WR. It’s year 5 after taking over a dumpster fire. If we’re at year 10 coming up short still, have that conversation. But it’s just too premature.
I'm not saying he can't adapt and become more in the future. But it would be ignorant to say what we have seen would indicate we can push through to the next level and be legitimate championship contenders.
If anything, Heupel has regressed in savvy coaching that made him exciting in the last few years.
I genuinely hope the trajectory shifts. But, as of now, I don't see us being in that end of year conversation . At least legitimately.
I want nothing more than to be wrong and eat crow.
