How many do we actually think will stay when Tony leaves? If Tony goes I'll have no hate for him. He brought us a title and completely changed the program.
Part of me feels the delay is because TSIO, DW is in Tuscaloosa and Tony wants to do this face to face, and Tony wants to make sure everything is taken care of as far as his replacement and encouraging the guys to stay.
I don't think Tony wants to leave, I think he wants to challenge himself.
You can name all the programs where baseball is 1st or 2nd priority and a Top 20 program with Top 20 pay on 1 hand. That's not a UT problem. Like you said - That's just college baseball. He knows that and there's no way he's frustrated in envious of that. Hell, when he took the UT job he knew it wasn't even Top 3 priority at the time. It was below softball, women's basketball, and probably even track. And when Barnes leaves his program will probably move to #2 in Knoxville.Basillo just says ****.
But that said, it would make sense. You're running the best baseball program in the country, and you're the third sport priority at your own school.
That's not a Tony problem or a Danny problem, that's just the reality of the situation.
From my perspective, I obviously prefer all our programs win. Obviously. But given the choice between a good baseball team and, idk, two top 100 football recruits... Give me the football recruits. JMO.
