LSU just isn't good enough. We are better
I do think LSU was over rated however it’s also looking like Vandy was incorrectly overlooked. They’re a good team. I do believe we are better tho. But we better be ready to play. And I’ll be at it with two nephews it’s looking like too!

There's almost zero separation in the upper half of the SEC, which is a good thing.

Nice! I'm hoping we can go too.

Slap yourself. I’d rather lose the Hype than Tony

No way in Hell, never ever.

I would quit playing baseball altogether to win a Championship in the next 5 years in football and CJH is gonna do it. Baseball is something to watch to get you through the "not football" season for a lot of folks. Do yall know if he is gonna take his whole staff or if we promote from within? We gonna lose that #1 class?

Poor decision bv TV in my opinion. He could have stayed here for decades. He will probably get fired within 3 to 5 years in MLB

plus it is SF..

I wish AM64 was still around. Miss that guy. His patience with his wife was a feat of strength and composure.
I hope they're okay.

Thank you. I check things out here every few days depending on how things are going. We now have our house (Chattanooga), my house, and her house both in middle TN-about 30 miles apart. We've moved to my house because it was impossible to manage everything from Chattanooga. It's quieter here, and at least to me things are more sane. Doesn't mean I'm getting things done as effectively as I want - and definitely not as quickly as the wife wants, but that's just how it is. I've been moving a few things over every trip back to Chattanooga for appointments - necessities mostly; the real moving will come later when her house is renovated the way we want and need, and that's one of the things not moving quickly because I haven't arranged for someone to do the work. I have a contractor name, so we'll see how that goes.

My house was built in 1918 - in case of doubt it is older than me. We're in a very small town in the middle of nursery country, so mostly pretty quiet with a few semis passing through or on the bypass moving nursery stock. The wife is getting around much better right now and getting more physical therapy. She does some limited cooking, but you have to keep an eye on her and the recipe or things can get unusual. The move went pretty well; I brought her and one cat over and stayed to get everything somewhat settled. I figured the cat would be the big issue - not at all - she was racing up and down the hall having a ball in no time. Went back about a weak later and moved the other two cats over expecting the worst, and they are perfectly content. You hear a lot of "hoofbeats" up and down the hall at all hours. This is temporary until the other house is set up.

Her house is between Tullahoma and Shelbyville. It's not a great house, but has plenty of room for improvement. It's not as isolated as I'd like - one of two houses on a cul-de-sac at with maybe 8 houses on the entire street - pretty much surrounded by farmland. The real attraction is the backyard. It fans out with a large creek at the end (actually some property across the creek, too); but the backyard is partially wooded and over 2 acres, and you can't see the neighbors looking out the back of the house. My brother in law walked down to the creek with me a few weeks ago and said he could spend hours there - and I agree. So one improvement will be a large windowed deck for us and the cats. I thought about just selling all three houses and building something that really fit our situation assuming the wife doesn't significantly improve mobility wise and cognitively, but then in a more lucid moment she pointed out we probably wouldn't be living there more than another ten years, so that didn't make sense - mostly do something with the original garage (converted into a huge room) to improve the house layout. That means raising the floor - moving the washer and dryer out there to make a pantry off the kitchen and extending the master bedroom bath out there so you can just wheel a transport chair into the shower. I showed my brother what I had in mind and mentioned what she said about ten years and he had to add "Yeah, you'll be pushing 90 by then." I thanked him for the reminder - he's only two years younger than me BTW.

Anyway, I do look in and read to keep up what's happening with you heathens - and see which one of you is least likely to go on living. Kinda betting on McDad and ND40 right now. My wife didn't get her hormones refilled, so until they started kicking in again late yesterday ... I'll keep checking in, we're doing OK, and I'm resisting the temptation to spend more time here because there's more to do than I seem to be getting done. This being Bama weekend, I'm taking a break. I'm not expecting a win, but then you just never know. With a defense that could actually tackle and knock down passes, the odds would be a lot more favorable. I'm not counting on the officials to be neutral either - Bama will probably play their most miraculous and penalty free game of the year.

Wonderful to hear from you. Glad things are trending your way.

Lol. No. Discrete transistor amplifiers aren’t really in my wheelhouse to me they’re an art form. I’m much more an op amp guy. Much more room for error.

I was always more comfortable with troubleshooting and fixing tubes than transistors. If the Hawk radars primarily had transistors rather than tubes it might have been different. Unless you got into weird and more exotic tube circuits like phantastrons or other unusual oscillators, tubes really are just more simple to understand. I liked op amps. One of my nuke engr profs told me I should take a senior level EE course in op amps - as an elective while in grad school. Turned out it wasn't introductory and it was a required course for EE seniors. I muddled through and got an A-, but not having the EE background courses made it difficult. In a way op amps and tubes do have design similarities that transistors just don't.

Poor decision bv TV in my opinion. He could have stayed here for decades. He will probably get fired within 3 to 5 years in MLB

The Hype isn’t winning a NC, TV has and will win several if he stays.

I have a couple of tube amps and always looking for a place to take for repairs..getting hard to find. I love it when those tubes heat up.

If you're in Knox, East TN Sound on Bearden Hill is great if you don't mind waiting a few days. They restored my Classic 30 and brought my Teisco up to standard after it had been routinely frying pickups for years.

If you get some time, not urgent, please give me some feedback.
Son graduating from TTU ChemE in Spring. Considering Navy for Nuclear Engineering program. Doesn't want career. Wants the training and Defense Department clearance that he would gain. Worth it? Better options? Navy good program?

Don't know if you remember them, but I worked for England Sound (?) on Cumberland while I was back in school. Mostly repaired tape recorders and amps.

My main take aways from my senior active amplifier class was A) a competent transistor amplifier designer is an EE god and B) after studying op amps I have no desire to be such an EE god. I am completely comfortable using transistors as current buffers to get more drive out of my power amp circuits but I put all the gain and compensation in the op amp circuit. That methodology has served me well.

The caveat is in modern switching amplifiers where I’m still using discrete transistors as current buffers but they are operating in saturation and not the active region. I’ve gotten very comfortable with that skill set.

And in 6 more weeks I’m hanging it all up for good and riding off into the sunset quite content with how my career turned out and no regrets.
