You have no idea what you are talking about. Giants like to spend money and will get free agents to come play there. You don’t have to win you division to be a World Series contender.

This competitor who gave us everything we can ask for and more is taking an unprecedented opportunity to compete at the highest level.

I’m saddened and disappointed to see him go, but I’m grateful for everything he did for UT. He is surpassed by only Neyland and Summitt. I can’t blame him for leaving, and I’ll be rooting for the Giants.

It’s going to be a tough gig in SF going against the dodgers and padres who both outspend you by a mile. I don’t blame him for going though: how many people get an opportunity to be a manager in the MLB? Especially at one of the most iconic venues in baseball.

I think we will be okay here. The foundation is laid for any good coach to take over.

South Carolina felt the same way after tanner retired. I’m sorry but Tony IS Tennessee baseball. Without him there will be a steep drop off. Will it be Raleigh bad? Probably not. But our heyday is over.

I wonder, just wondering out loud if he's doing what Saban did, getting out because of the NIL and having to bid for players via the portal ? I remember the year they won the NC he was firm saying if you were a player looking for bucks , you need to look elsewhere ( not word for word, but along those lines) And the next year ( last year) there was a drop off in talent (IMHO) especially pitching. Anyways, I hope it's not true, was looking forward to many years with him as HC

It won’t go well for him, his coaching isn’t built for the majors so in a few years he will be back to college with a blemish on his record of a failed major league manager.

Giants won’t spend the money the Dodgers do or even the Padres and they sure don’t have the farm system that the Dodgers have. His swagger doesn’t work in the majors either, there’s a reason most managers are pretty much thumbs on the bench while his players are usually making more than the manager is. I wish him luck, but it’s going to be a hit to his system to have the college baseball world by the balls and go in and suck in the majors and limp back to the college ranks afterwards. Guess at least he’ll have millions to cry into at that point.
