Here's what you're missing...

And you’ll note that the 5 or 6 you are speaking of don’t have the courage to step into this conversation. They know who and what they are. It’s fine to question a play, a decision or a poor performance. People that are getting paid to do a job can be criticized and that includes the players now. It’s not OK to continually and purposely trash the coach and the program in EVERY POST when the improvement and the record is what it is. I’m assuming those people would rather have Dooley, Jones and Pruitt back when it was easier to wallow in misery.

Here’s my thought. If they aren’t simply trolling, is this attitude just about the Vols or does that sad sack attitude carry over to the rest of their existence? I suspect the latter and that must be miserable to go through life that way. I don’t know about the rest of y’all but I prefer fun and optimism over doom and gloom every day. I’ve lived long enough to know that life’s too short.
Well I take that back. One sad sack decided to weigh in and expose himself. The rest won’t.

I enjoy it, but I’m absolutely negative about the defense.
I get it. And honestly there are some here and you may be one, that can express their concerns without all the drama that is obviously necessary from the ones OP had in mind here.

Lol, maybe not.

Just being a realist. Don’t let me rain on your positivity parade.

I hope you're right about "when we win" I really do, I'm just not feeling it, not at all.

But I always say, if I pick something you should pick against it. I've got terrible luck.

Go GBO.

It will rise through the weekend. Give them time to wake up, eat some dirt, kick their dogs, and log in. Then we'll start hearing from more. ;)
And if somehow, some way UT pulls the upset, they’ll slink back into their holes. If Bama wins, they’ll be out in force. That’s the modus operandi of a troll.

For some, absolutely. Because what people think about them on a message board is important to them. Ecred is real.

Don't ask me to explain it just know its fact.
Some people take Internet message boards way too seriously and act as if their worth as a human being is attacked if someone says something mean about a team they root for.

I don’t think these people are the beacons of positivity and joy that they portray themselves as. I think they are as negative and unhappy as they claim the “Negavols” are. If you insist your team is great and always say they will win, but you complain about everything from fellow fans, ESPN, broadcasters, referees, the SEC office, the media at large, other coaches, other teams, past coaches who won championships for your team, etc, how can you claim to be a positive and optimistic person?

So show us this mythical creature you are here to do battle against.

Find any one person on this board who you think fits your template, and show us 10 posts from them:

1. First and most important, a post saying the Vols are great and will always win -- to establish this person as a self-proclaimed "beacon of positivity and joy."
2. Second, a post complaining about fellow fans
3. Third, a post complaining about ESPN
4. Fourth, a post complaining about broadcasters
5. Next, a post complaining about referees
6. Then a post complaining about the SEC office
7. A post complaining about the media at large
8. A post complaining about other coaches
9. A post complaining about other teams
10. A post complaining about past coaches who won championships for the Vols

Show us ONE person, just one, who fits your template, please, by quoting ten of their statements.

Because I don't think that person exists. I think you're rolling together a lot of different people on these boards, who have a lot of unique opinions. And some will complain about one thing, some about another, but rarely will any person complain about all nine things AFTER saying the Vols are great and will always win.

You're trying to portray positive people as negative people. And I'm pretty sure that's a fiction you've made up.

But prove me wrong.

Go Vols!

Sounds like a lot of PosiVols are being very NEGATIVE towards the NEGAVOLS.

Be careful, this could be a trap....

The epitaph of Popcorn Sutton is my personal ethos as a Tennessee fan.

It dovetails nicely with this:

I'm 63 years old, been a Vol fan since my birth. My family and everyone in my county will tell you there is No bigger Vol fan than me. I travel 6 hrs one way to see the game. It absolutely hurts my heart when we lose, can't sleep, and feel bad All week. I love the Vols with all my heart but I keep it real. I get tired of the term nega Vol. The folks y'all call nega Vols love the team too, they just see it different than some. You can love the Vols and still call out the players and coaches when needed. Our fans are no different than most passionate fan bases. Go Vols!!!

I don't consider it a Negavol to ask for the defense to play better. Being critical of any part of the game is somehow Negavols ?
Not at all, I have also posted my concerns about the defense and what it looks like..

the "negavol" comes to a handful of posters who post the same negative things in every thread and follow it up with like "Heupel will never win anything, he sucks, Tennessee has no shot of beating Bama, Florida, Vandy, etc." The kind of posters who are easy to spot because they literally wouldn't say a positive thing about UT in comparison to other coaches, programs or fans if it killed them

Vols get to play tonight on the grand stage. I get to watch. Can't wait.
Agree. And if you’re a Vol fan (and that’s a stretch for some on here), the anticipation of a big game is a whole lot more enjoyable than it was 10 years ago. Win or lose, we are in a much better place.

Yeah, Im not sure what to do with all this. Normally you at least make sense, whether I agree with you or not.

There are a few "sunshine pumpers" that are just as bad as the so-called self proclaimed "negavols" if thats in the neighborhood of where you were trying to go.

IMO there is a middle ground here and I call it the 'realist' who as you say want Vols to win just as much as anyone but due to either FB experience or whatever see some things on the field or in coaching that are not as good as it can be and you call it out. Its your right as a fan.

I agree that the true Nega's have been defined on here and I don't understand them at all. But don't broad brush everyone not like you as Nega.

You get tired of the term negavol? Lol.

Heres an idea, but Ill be clear, Im not telling you what to do or how to think....Stop saying the same thing over and over and over and over and you might not see it as much.

You're 61 years old and losing hurts your heart and you cant sleep?

Yeah. Good luck with that. I used to be weak like that. Im 62 now and probably about 15 years is when I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and stopped letting football and a few other things have that type of control over me.

Hope you grow out of it.

I do enjoy these matchups more than the Arkansas or Miss State kind of matchups. The previous two matchups, I felt like these were games we were trying to not lose and there isn't a lot of gain by beating them. That being said, no one expects us to beat Alabama so we are the underdog and I can get excited about every play, the fight, etc.
