Let the spirit of Davy Crrockett accompanied with a bunch of touchdowns from Joey lead us to victory!!!I feel for the NegaVols.
Not the trolls, no. They can rot in hell. But the true Vols fans who can't get it together, who are stuck in BVS perhaps, or who come at life like it's an equation and want to 'keep it real', or who just have a negative outlook on everything. You meet those people from time to time, the ones who seem to believe their own personal rain cloud follows them around. They've been kicked so many times, they flinch any time anyone approaches.
So for you, NegaVols, I just want to paint a picture of what you're missing--what the rest of us who carry hope in our hearts feel.
Every single day, a tingling excitement about being a Volunteer fan. Being a member of a community with shared values that reach back to Davy Crockett and Andrew Jackson, to the Overmountain Men. A thrill every time we see that particular shade of orange, a genuine excitement at running into another Vols fan.
And the buildup to Saturday, knowing our coaches and our lads can beat anyone. A confidence in the team, that they'll do their best. Tempered by an understanding that the other team gets a vote, too, and sometimes carries the day. A forgiveness for imperfection, because we are not ourselves perfect and understand what Jesus said about that.
When we win, a tremendous thrill. A warm glow that lasts into the night, into our sleep, and is still there when we wake up Sunday morning. That carries over through the week, flavoring conversations around the truck tailgate or the water cooler at work.
When we lose, a quiet confidence. We'll get 'em next time, boys. Don't fret. We still have next week.
And at the end of the season, after the last bowl game is played and there's nothing left to ponder except how many days until spring camp starts, a quiet pride in the Volunteer State and those who represent it.
Win or lose, there's comfort and strength and joy in being a Volunteer fan.
I'm sorry some of us can't feel all that.
Go Vols!
Nega Vols have a Nico mentality-usually accompanied with either entitlement or dreadI feel for the NegaVols.

I'd really just like to forget he ever happened LOL. Remember this?Im not sure it originated in 2016 but that was when it blew up. The terms "Negavol" and "sunshine pumper" were used multiple times in every thread that year.
The thing about Butch and the whole negavol thing was a perfect storm. We'd fired Fulmer, Kiffin left, hired Dooley lol and Hart was on his way out.
Nobody knew wtf was going on except the LotM. They had all the answers. "Nobody could be worse then Butch, hire my grandmother".
Suck on that Negavols. You got what the rest of us told you you'd get.

Excellent piece. This should be on the contract to join VN.I feel for the NegaVols.

Not at all, realistic and actual fans know, that especially in today's game, you aren't going to win every game. The over/under on amount of participation trophies on display in households of people in this thread mad at “negavols”? I say 3. Many from bowling, rook, checkers, etc.
Fify..It will rise through the weekend. Give them time to wake up and wash they mullet, eat some dirt, kick their dogs, put the past due notice on the rent for the trailer back in the mailbox, build a pyramid of natty light cans on the coffee table, brush they tooth, dial up aol to check and see how much longer they Drivers license are suspended and log in. Then we'll start hearing from more.![]()
And you’ll note that the 5 or 6 you are speaking of don’t have the courage to step into this conversation. They know who and what they are. It’s fine to question a play, a decision or a poor performance. People that are getting paid to do a job can be criticized and that includes the players now. It’s not OK to continually and purposely trash the coach and the program in EVERY POST when the improvement and the record is what it is. I’m assuming those people would rather have Dooley, Jones and Pruitt back when it was easier to wallow in misery.Honestly, the nega vols consist of only 5-6 posters who post the same drivel time and time again, most posters here are pretty optimistic or realistic actual Vol fans.
It's even more hilarious when you look back at those specific posters and see their past posts...their trolling job and ignorance becomes even more profound.
I like this one.Yes. That is probably, of all the elements I described, the one that requires the greatest maturity and self-confidence (team and community confidence, that is). It is perhaps the pinnacle of Vol fandom. And so it will be criticized by outsiders. They'll say a person who feels that way is "settling for mediocrity" or "not taking this seriously enough" or the like.
They can't understand because they're not there.
Even some of us "sunshine pumpers" have trouble with that at times. I know I do. But it's the right frame of mind.
Go Vols!
Does it take courage to post on a college sports message board? And you’ll note that the 5 or 6 you are speaking of don’t have the courage to step into this conversation. Here’s my thought. If they aren’t simply trolling, is this attitude just about the Vols or does that sad sack attitude carry over to the rest of their existence? I suspect the latter and that must be miserable to go through life that way. I don’t know about the rest of y’all but I prefer fun and optimism over doom and gloom every day. I’ve lived long enough to know that life’s too short.
