Cigar /Pipe Smoking thread

After only one, this cigar is vying for my favorite maduro. Ernesto hit it perfectly with the cure of the wrapper combined with the choice of binder and filler. Dark chocolate, coffee, “burnt sugar,” pepper - complex flavors balanced just right. Medium body - no overwhelming nicotine kick - subtle and matched to the flavor profile. If he allowed tours of his factory, I’d be booking a trip to Dominica.

He really is a magician in that general flavor zone.

Break open this bad boy. 100 Anos lancero. Hasn’t seen the light of day in 20 years. Perfect construction, razor burn line, copious smoke. Hint of cracked black pepper, light leather, marzipan? Almost thought there was apricot on the nose. A touch of white pepper, smooth on the retrohale, every puff smooth as silk. Matches beautifully with the Maccallans 12 I’m sipping.

Some cigars don’t age well past a few years, especially those with medium flavors but this one really settled in.

The nice thing about mix & match five-pack deals is trying out new cigars without paying singles prices or investing in a 20+ box or bundle.

Smoking a Rojas Unfinished Business this morning. Made in Nicaragua with an Ecuadorian Sumatran wrapper, Nica binder, Nica & Mexican filler. Box pressed.

Medium bodied, it brings to mind a dark mole - unsweetened chocolate, mixture of not too fiery peppers, leather, nuts, slight bitterness, and a floral hint of sweetness in the finish.

Have not. How is it?
Very well made, as are most of the cigars from Raymond Pages. Habano wrapper, a blend of Nicaraguan long leaf fillers, medium to medium-full. All but one has held a clean burn line with firm ash. Black pepper at the start yields to white pepper by the second third. Cedar throughout. Besides the pepper, there’s a spiciness common to most Raymond Pages offerings. Complexity increases in the second third with a creamy cocoa component and a mushroomy umami. I have enjoyed them.

Thanks for the review.
I’ll say it is a handsome stick

Took a risk and bought a bundle of Cusano P1 robustos. Made in Honduras with Connecticut maduro wrapper and Dominican long leaf filler. These have an association with Davidoff (a budget brand?). First impression, I do note cedar, dark chocolate, sweet spice, caramel, and a hint of leather. I consider it to be of medium body with a little bolder flavor profile.

Edit: My first cigar has a good draw, an even burn, and firm ash.
