The 1995 game in which Peyton broke the streak in Birmingham by throwing an 80 yard TD to Joey Kent on play #1 was a night game. So was the next year in Knoxville. And the next year in Birmingham. All Vol wins.
Do you remember Jay Graham that game??

Agreed. It actually was their most watched game of the season so far and unfortunately for them still well below what the SEC is doing. The Red River game drew 8.7M, Bama/Mizzou had 7M, and UGA/Auburn was 6.7M.

The game broadcast averaged 5.59 million viewers with a peak of 8.361 million, according to CBS, which also uses Nielsen Big Data + Panel ratings. That was up 31% from last year’s Week 7 game between Penn State and USC and the network’s most-watched Week 7 game since 2022, when Tennessee upset Alabama.

The '22 Tenn/Bama game that they compared to drew 11.56M - more than double the Indiana/Oregon game.

Objectively speaking-there's a reason that 2022 game drew such numbers

Word got out pretty quick in the CFB universe that there were two big ole boys throwing haymakers at each other one after the other-and neither side was blinking.

All that was left for CBS to do was count the $$ lol.
