Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Somebody on the FF pointed out that if you only account for SEC games, Tennessee's pass defense is middle of the pack in the SEC, sitting at 9th with 246 yards per game. Not great but the numbers definitely don't support the "WORST DEFENSE IN THE SEC" argument.

We threw a lot of young guys out there when the games were out of reach and forced teams to have to pass, thus pumping up the opponents passing game numbers. Yeah I wish Heupel had more of his killer instinct from 2022, and the deep zone on 3rd down is exhausting, but we're on pace to repeat last year with a better offense after replacing 9 starters, so I feel pretty great about this "rebuilding year."
I'm grateful that the way our offense executes and the way we usually game plan on defense, there will always be plenty of passing yardage given up giving those who always look for things to complain about even after wins a perceived reason to complain.

Teams are chasing us in games and they are usually having to throw to keep up.

Well folks, the last 15 hours have been nothing short of a whirlwind and chaos. Relief and joy.

Our second child decided last night was closing time. It was a terrifying experience *added details below, IF the spoiler feature works* but miracles happen and quick thinking by the doc saved everyone.

My second baby girl joined us topside at 12:22am ET, October 17th.

Which means her birthday will ALWAYS be celebrated on the Third Saturday In October.

AI does not "create" anything...it has no soul, no "divine spark"...it doesn't contemplate the beauty of a sunset or a mountain or a baby...all it does is copy and replicate what it has seen or heard from us a billion times and spits out some garbage fake replica.
Fake replica….. counterfeit. On a spiritual level who is that? Hmmm

People often forget that giving birth is major procedure, and so many complications can happen. So glad she's good, and congrats my friend. My suggestion would be to get mom and baby home and healthy. Then take the longest nap you can.

The 12-team playoffs and the timing of the new portal period is going to screw any school who is looking to hire a coach in the playoffs for their opening. The portal closes on Jan 16th which is 3 days PRIOR to the NC game. So any coach hired by a new school will have to somehow try to hang on to a roster at a new school AND work the portal to ADD players to that roster, all while coaching a different team in the playoffs? I was thinking specifically about Lane Kiffin and Florida which isn't going to happen for a number of reasons, but I don't think all these fan bases around the country begging their admin to hire Kiffin are thinking about this.

I'm sure it will work out somehow. I just can't see how at this point.

Is this why all the coaches are being let go at midpoint of season?

Has the NCAA with their Portal windows screwed themselves(schools)?

Congratulations to your family and I’m glad the complications didn’t hurt anything. That does sound like a true miracle. And what a day to celebrate a B-day on!

My 2nd was born the day Pruitt was fired, so I’m always happy to remember that day.

She's clearly insecure and trying to prove her value, but she doesn't have any expertise in this area at all. Who says "Adobe photoshop?"

Lol edit, the podcast people said the same thing right after I said it.
Yea the studios use Adobe Premier.

If he plays, it is a win at all costs and risking the kid immensely. He is dealing with a collarbone issue too.

Our defense may not be the most sound this year, but they are very physical. I can’t imagine this kid getting hit by Farooq, Boo, and the entire DL have hit people at points this year. It could really be bad for the kid.
It's not that I don't want us to have to face him...I can honestly say that...I really don't want to see this kid end up drooling on himself and going insane down the road. You can't make me believe his brain has healed that fast. That was a brutal hit, he went completely limp armed and dead legged...he did not "just get his bell rung"..he got his bell cracked.

I admire him for wanting to help his team...but the Alabama HC and staff disgusts me for letting this happen...I actually thought DeBoer was a better human than this...but nope he is just another Brian Kelly.

What killer instinct in 2022? We sat on the ball against Florida in 2022 the same way we did against UGA and Arky this year.

Yeah I've found several around $200 a night. I was really just trying to figure out which ones had shuttle services from the hotel or within walking distance of the hotel. Ive always stayed downtown and never had to use one.

Yep. But it's also part of God's perfect plan somehow. Rejecting AI is to me a matter of principle. As a creative, it also irks me to the nth degree that people use it to create art. But it's also none of my business what other people do.

GENERAL ROBERT R. NEYLAND’S GREATEST PLOY

In 1928 a then young Neyland challenged national powerhouse Alabama (winner of the 1925 and 1926 Rose Bowl) to meet his unheralded Vols in Tuscaloosa. In the greatest (and perhaps first) opponent psych –out move ever , Neyland went to the Tide locker room minutes before the game and in full earshot of the Alabama players told coach Wallace Wade that the game would be a rout .He suggested that in order to hold down the score, that the last two quarters be shortened. Wade replied that Alabama did not plan on running up a big score , but agreed to shorten the last half if Alabama’s lead justified it
( just imagine the instant loss of mental edge by the Alabama players) .
Minutes later, Volunteer halfback Gene McEver returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown. The Tide trailed at halftime, Tennessee never lost the lead and won the game 15-13. [ adapted from THROUGH THE YEARS WITH THE VOLUNTEERS by Tom Siler ]
And that in the words of Nick Saban was pure Rat Poison...and they ate it all up.

I wonder if DeBoer is playing games with the injury report. I’ll be interested to see how he is listed tonight and then tomorrow 90 minutes before the game. I’m gonna guess he’s playing a game and will be ruled out, or he is downgraded to questionable and a gametime decision, then we never see him play.
I really hope that is what is happening..but I doubt it...I think DeBoer is on win at all cost mode. I think the rabid nature of the Alabama fan base has freaked him out.

The price for playing too soon on a sprain can be a worse sprain, or a tear. The price for a playing too soon after a concussion can sometimes be SIS (Second Impact Syndrome). SIS can lead to massive edema, coma or you just straight up die. I truly hope his family steps in and prevents this from happening. This type of crap is why you have so many ex nfl players with CTE and Gumps should be getting grilled by the football community right now. Everybody knows if they were playing Alabama State this weekend he’d be listed as out.

From the Auburn site:

"Saturday's game against Missouri is a sellout, running Auburn's streak of sellouts to 19."

19 home games works out to the last two seasons + 3 games this season.

Ove that period Auburn has gone 14-17.

Where's the incentive to make a move on Freeze right now? I'm not saying they don't do it, but they went through several guys before they got to Freeze last time. Fans should be mindful of that.

Phillip Marshall said the other day that boosters were happy with the way things are going. There's no pressure on the AD to make a move. He might just be saying that. Who knows.
