I'm grateful that the way our offense executes and the way we usually game plan on defense, there will always be plenty of passing yardage given up giving those who always look for things to complain about even after wins a perceived reason to complain.Somebody on the FF pointed out that if you only account for SEC games, Tennessee's pass defense is middle of the pack in the SEC, sitting at 9th with 246 yards per game. Not great but the numbers definitely don't support the "WORST DEFENSE IN THE SEC" argument.
We threw a lot of young guys out there when the games were out of reach and forced teams to have to pass, thus pumping up the opponents passing game numbers. Yeah I wish Heupel had more of his killer instinct from 2022, and the deep zone on 3rd down is exhausting, but we're on pace to repeat last year with a better offense after replacing 9 starters, so I feel pretty great about this "rebuilding year."
Teams are chasing us in games and they are usually having to throw to keep up.
