Tennessee Lady Vol News

In the preseason national poll, Tennessee receved one vote for 4th, two votes for 5th, and four votes for 6th. On the flip-side, we also receved one vote for 15th, one vote for 14th, and two votes for 13th.

I would have voted us around 12th tbh. Based on finish last season and a lot of new players.

Yes, the talent is there, but we have to see how it all works together.

I'm going be optimistic ! Top 5 talent Top 5 coaches so it may take a little time to gel but I'm taking #4 and rising ! 🍊💥
It will take time but that should have absolutely nothing to do with the defensive and rebounding capabilities of this team I think they have a chance to be absolutely ELITE on that end until the offense and team chemistry catch up

In the media day today, Kim mentioned the team not taking as many threes and driving more in hopes to get to the foul line. I wonder how this changes the game on the defensive end.
it really won't change much
right now Kim is searching for a Darby'esque shooter and that's not what's gonna happen....A shooter WILL emerge as the games begin and will be in place by SEC time,,,and it will be one you guys ain't gonna see coming.

I see her… and she’s looking good!

I probably love the 3 as much as anyone on this board, but CKC is 100% correct. Our athletes should be blowing by everyone with the dribble and through ball movement. Finishing at the rim should be goal #1, and goal #2 should be uncontested 3s. We simply need to shoot 3s well enough that they have to respect us out there and not crowd the paint.

I feel this season we'll really get to see more out of Kim and her coaching mind. She's had a season in the SEC to learn the ins and outs of conference play and how her system ebbs and flows during a season of that type of play. I'm sure, like us, she saw the holes and/or adjustments that needed to be made. (Not being condescending, just observed ways Tennessee was being beaten). With 'her' type of recruits and the adjustments, I am uber excited for the season. I'm hoping to make a game again this season, last season was my first game attended (dream come true minus Pat).

Really looking forward to the UCLA game.

...and she looks amazing so soon after child birth....

Go Lady Vols.

Kims style has been shooting 20-30 more shots per game than her opponents and full court pressure for 40 minutes. Even though we have very good athletes this year, so do 6-8 other SEC teams and many accross the country do too. If we are taking it to the rim all the time, getting fouled and stopping the clock every two minutes, it plays more against what has made her successful than it helps. The constant up and down and shooting a ton of shots with platoon subbing was designed to wear the opponent down, not let them rest every couple minutes while free throws are shot. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Thank you! You ‘splained it well!

…i think Kim be sandbagging. 😉

Latham's shot was coming along nicely last year, and I expect her to improve coming into this year. Janiah Barker also has a beautiful stroke from the 3. We didn't get to see it much last year because she was completely pigeon-holed to the paint as a rebonder/strong forward for UCLA, but if you go back and look at clips of her at Texas A&M, she shot 40% from the 3 as a freshman and 34% from 3 as a sophomore which is also great in game play. If she is given the green light, she can be a great 3-point option for us, especially at 6-4, cause there isn't anybody stopping that.
