The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

We know AP voters are not the most observant. They see what ZZ meant to us, how Chaz scored, and how Mashack defended and know how all that is gone now. I wouldn't have been surprised to see us start lower than 18.

That said, I'll be surprised if we don't finish higher than that.

Skip to the final 10 mins or so of this for some Ament talk. Maybe more negative than I was expecting, but an interesting listen nonetheless.

It sounded kind of like they were trying to pick out flaws to me as the purpose of the video, especially when they were talking at the end. I think it makes sense to suggest that Ament struggled with contact in high school where he was so light. I think Barnes will have him ready.

One thing I disagreed on though is that I think our offense was definitely best for Lanier with him basically being a spot up shooter only. He shot a very high percentage, the team performed well, and he got drafted above his projections, so it seems weird to have the opinion that the offense didn’t highlight him well.

Yeah I more meant negative in the sense of your second paragraph. I enjoyed the breakdown of the struggles in HS for each player and where they can grow to reach potential. Was more referring to their synopsis that Ament isn’t a fit for Barnes and using two transfers that excelled here as reasoning for it. Some national media guys just do not like CRB for whatever reason and it really shows in their underlying comments.

Yeah. I semi-understand it for Knecht because our offense kind of struggled at the end of the year and we almost just had Knecht iso sometimes but our offense was very good last year

I think they severely underestimated Barnes ability to get his guys in position to make shots.

It’s highly unlikely Ament we’ll be even close to the level of KD but for them to say it could be an issue to rely on him to score since we have unproven guys on the roster, is a bit silly imo.

The talent is there and if anyone can get the most out of him, it’s Rick Barnes.

Still wish we had taken a swing there the second time around.
I voiced at the time I wouldn’t mind adding him…we had conversations, but for him to come here was gonna be minimal NIL and an expectation for him to work his ass off for any minute he’d get on the court, so I get why he wasn’t very interested.
