Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Bull from Blue Chip called Bama a much better matchup for us than Arkansas. Cited better players for sure, but believes this matchup is better suited to us. I hope he's right.
Running QB’s have always and still do give us issues. Green is a better QB than Simpson when matched up with us. ARKY is better O wise period than Bama. If we run the ball well and protect the ball we should win. But, the officials will be an issue and I think that will cost us even if we do the above. But matchup wise, we are better. If at home, I feel we would win. Hard to beat them there unless we get a fairly calmed game. Good luck with that.

Well, Pate cleared things up on his show last night. Said he predicts Bama by double digits. Probably why he chose the LSU vs Vandy game instead. It would be awful nice to prove everyone wrong. I haven’t wanted a win this bad since…. Well since Georgia, but still!
I remember that game. I’ve aged 8 years since that game.

That's a stretch. He is a genius author, I agree though. He Dark Tower series is one of my favorites ever. That shouldn't exempt him from suffering social consequences of disgusting writing though.

Also, he's a huge egomaniac. And I've sworn him off forever for recommending the Dark Tower movie as "something any fan of the book will love." He lied right through his teeth to all his loyal fans to make a few extra bucks, so he's dead to me.
My favorite author. And if I wrote off every egomaniac artist, I wouldn't have anymore art to enjoy. That said, I disagree with your assessment of the man. Seems like a decent dude for being worth half a billion dollars

No, I used the same source as you.

83% is their 2020 BCR. Keep scrolling. The top teams are teetering at 90% these days.
I did scroll down. Thanks. It says Bama is at 78% including transfers and we are at 50%. I still don't think this is a good or remotely accurate way to compare rosters against each other. We are in the NIL age where skill players are much cheaper than LOS players and QBs. Georgia had to let a QB walk and chose to instead spend money on giving Stockton good receivers to throw to. Yet to see how that turns out, but I would rather have Beck. Ty Simpson is a good QB but don't you think Bama fans would rather have held onto Julian Sayin?

Is the bad defense narrative blown out of proportion?

To a degree it is but we are not the same elite defense like last year. Its unfortunate that injuries have prevented us of seeing what this defense truly can be.

We are a defense that is going to get sacks, TFLs, and turnovers. But we also are going to give up yards and points.

Need the offense to protect the defense by not turning over the ball and giving the opposing teams short fields (like MSST game), and taking full advantage of the turnovers the defense does creates (unlike the Arkansas game).

There's a thread on Florida's 247 board where someone posted where Phillip Marshall of the Auburn site said things were moving behind the scenes to land Lane Kiffin in Gainesville. I promise you that guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Billy isn't even out yet and many are saying the report it is coming soon was false. That entire thread is full of Florida fans quoting Ole Miss fans laughing at the idea Kiffin would leave Ole Miss for Florida. They think THEY are the ones who are delusional. INTROSPECT!

Reread....maybe when I retire..ha.

Read any Joe Abercrombie? I really like his stuff. All characters are pretty gray.
Loved First Law. Liked the second trilogy. Downright hated the 3rd trilogy. Couldn't even finish it. Never seen such a fall from brilliance to pandering drivel. He forgot to actually write a good story instead of just box checking the woke checklist.

If you're an audio book fan though, First Law is probably one of the best narrated books ever. So many characters, and the single narrator nails every single one.

Logen Ninefingers, man what an incredible character.
