Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I know Bama beat UGA, but should we really forget that a mid Fl St. team absolutely put belt to you know what on the Tide?
I mean yeah that’s great but that was the first game of the season. If Bama played them now they would beat FSU by 3 TDs. As much as it pains me to say, Bama has probably improved more from week one than any other team in the nation.

Remember when everyone was saying they were doomed? How they were slow on defense? Had no idea what they were doing and there was no way they were coming back from that?

Not at all. They either found something on Simpson/Bama's passing game or he was just green, but if we also keep him to only 5.9 YPA and 9 carries for 17 yds, we are winning this game.

They aren't "the red team" anymore...

Yes, they're still absurdly talented (78% BCR). But a ~2.2 average player ranking advantage over us is half or more than what it was once (5-6 points many seasons). We are fully capable, but on the road, we need to play at a very, very high level. Over the last 4 seasons we win 47% on the road. 25% vs ranked opps...which is, just coincidentally, what a 9 pt spread represents.

Now excuse me while I get off my fence 😅

GDBO!!

oh you knoooooow what's coming.
Based on Home/Away games between these two teams, can expect a ~7-8 penalty advantage for them. But we cannot pull the (legitimate) OL penalties we've returned to the last 2 games (minus that GOD AWFUL BS "offsides" that pissed me off to no end). The OL was doing much better penalty-wise the first 4 games imo. Can't let the crowd influence us and just calm out.

We need to play complete, complimentary football in all 3 phases of the game.. . .

Stardust was my entry into Gaiman (that's a gross phrasing), but I quickly discovered Neverwhere and loved it. Then read everything Gaiman.

Turns out he's a scummy guy too, though he actually got canceled for it lol.

We do have similar tastes though. I've heard good things about Barker and also Glen Cook. I'll do some more digging on Barker for sure.

When you retire, if you like dark fantasy, and you appreciate higher, dense, complex/complicated literature, you have to try Malazan. Commit to it for the first 4 books, then dump it if you still don't like it, but don't start it unless you're willing to read at least the first 4. It's changed the way I view and evaluate all other fiction, not just fantasy.
Malazan is definitely a beast. Really glad I stuck with it but reading 150 pages of a sequel before you realize how it connects to the previous was tough.

Someone here gave me the idea (Can’t remember who).

I thought it would be cool to start doing this midway and at the end of every season. This is just a poll to measure people’s thoughts on the offense and defense. Curious to see the results!

Entered!

Maybe need more default options though, i.e. no QB performance listed, no 3rd down defense listed. Which leads me to next point:

I wonder if Google forms lets you do percentage scales instead of straight multiple choice. Ie you get to attribute 100 pts across the different categories to make it less discrete and black and white. For instance, defensive struggles may be 50% 3rd down defense, 20% injuries, 30% yada yada yada.

Either way, cool idea. Appreciate it.

It does allow scales. I originally had a lot more detail but I was afraid people might not want to devote a lot of time filling it out.

Also, there is an other option you can use to write in if you’re opinion isn’t listed.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

That 78% Blue Chip Ratio doesn't factor in the transfer portal at all. A lot of those blue chip players are playing somewhere else this season.
