I was joking and referring to the British Boaty McBoatface. No AI needed….unless….I’m AI? Am I having an existential epiphany right now?!AI generated...............
Here are some funny name ideas for Earth's new moon, categorized by theme. Many are inspired by popular culture and internet humor, similar to the "Boaty McBoatface" phenomenon.
Internet and pop culture references
- Moony McMoonface: A nod to the public vote for the British research vessel that resulted in the now-iconic, humorously mundane name.
- Earth 2: Still Spinning: A sequel-style name for a sidekick moon.
- The Follower: A simple, slightly passive-aggressive name for a new celestial body.
- That New New: A casual, trend-focused name for a fresh addition to the solar system.
- Kevin: A name of pure, unfathomable randomness.
I know what you're saying. I don't use woke as a term because I think it's been perverted to mean something than the folks who coined it intended it to mean. But I avoid anything that doesn't meet my moral standards. I think we as a society need to demand more out of what passes for "entertainment" but truly seems better defined as brainwashing.Fixed, by the way. WoT...
Also, I didn't make it through season 1. I don't hate things simply because they are "woke", but everything doesn't have to become "woke". I'll just leave it at that, as I'm staying out of the PF for a while on purpose.
It's really weird to me that more of these authors don't get called out for how twisted and perverted they are. I read 'It' by Stephen King as a Freshman in HS. That book is the grossest most pedophilic piece of Literature I've ever read. I didn't know what to think. But you never hear anyone even discuss that part of the book! It's not in any of the films/series!
You know an interviewer asked Carrie Fisher once after the first Star Wars film if she got tired of being referred to as Debbie Reynold's and Eddie Fisher's daughter. She said, "Oh, I don't mind at all. I sort of like my parents." That's the right attitude IMO. I doubt Shane cares. You're probably right. Just got a feeling at times that he gets tired of the comparisons, which would be understandable.
I know how it reads! I'm a writer too so I understand what motivates someone to write a scene like that! It's why I have no respect for it. Not even saying anything about Stephen King. I haven't accused him of anything, but that is just really gross and disgusting. You have to think something like that up before you write it.Yeah, King is one of my favorite authors and I really hate that scene. I’ve spent a long time trying to come up with an explanation for it because his doesn’t really make any sense.
He’s explained it away as not being a sexual act but more of a representation of them transitioning to adulthood, which ok, definitely makes sense in theory but that seems like a piss poor way to do it to me.
Here’s something I’ve come up with over the years for this. Something that rarely gets brought up nowadays about King is his rampant coke and alcohol abuse during his legendary 80s run. I think as much as he hates to admit it, his substance abuse back then played a major role in the success of those books. Don’t buy it? Go back and read that scene of It and tell me it doesn’t read like a fever dream of a coke head. I’ve been around coke heads enough to know they can imagine some truly outlandish stuff.
I think deep down he knows the drugs and the chaos they created helped make him big (no different than many musicians of that time) and since he’s a recovered addict for decades now he has no reason to state otherwise.
Just my 2c. I know this is probably going straight to the off topic thread lol but I’ll never pass up a chance to discuss literature.
I have a friend from Philly that chose not to go to PSU solely because of the entire ordealIt isn’t guilt by association. The whole university should be closed. The very top knew what was going on and swept it under the rug.
Not saying the fans are guilty of anything. I’m saying I could never be a fan of a university that allowed that.
She also struggled with bipolar and depression, on and off drugs for rest of her life. What a troubled soul. You know an interviewer asked Carrie Fisher once after the first Star Wars film if she got tired to being referred to as Debbie Reynold's and Eddie Fisher's daughter. She said, "Oh, I don't mind at all. I sort of like my parents." That's the right attitude IMO. I doubt Shane cares.

Someone earlier said that with this year's offense and last year's defense we'd be undefeated. Well, if we had this year's offense, our defense won't look nearly as good as last year's did. We are a good defense. We just have a playing style that lends to giving up yardage on defense. What if I told you Tennessee's defense is performing exactly how our coaches want?
At least with the Holiday Special you can watch it and enjoy how awful it is. The Sequels are so awful and destructive of the franchise that I can't watch them at all. I've seen each film once. That was too much. One would have to get high to make it through that Holiday Special. The second worst decision Lucas ever made for the franchise, probably.
