And it was Butch's 1st year at UC and they had a lot of roster turnover after Kelly left. They went 4-8 that year. He built them up after that. Believe they were Big East co-champs the next 2 years. Regardless, any coach at Tennessee should beat any coach at UC.Yeah but come on man. Thats a bad faith argument. Cincinnati was a group of 5 school at that time and didnt have the same level of talent as we did. Coaching can only take you so far.
Me, too. I was more excited when Tennessee picked him up from Cincinnati then when they picked up Heupel. Shows how wrong I was in both situations.Annoys me that I bought into his crap the first few seasons.
Give Heupel those 15 and 16 teams and he gets at least an SEC Championship, and likely more.
Any coach who left Alvin Kamara riding the bench has no business being anywhere near a coaching positionButch doesn't have a horrible record as a coach. We just expected more. There are plenty of schools that he would be able to still be able.to stack bricks.

No to both of these. Big East was part of the Power 6 at the time. That Cincinnati team won 10 games that year and had 10 guys that went on to make NFL rosters, including Travis Kelce. Now we were at our strongest point under Dooley when we played them with Hunter, Rogers, and Bray all healthy, but you're ignoring some critical facts. And it was Butch's 1st year at UC and they had a lot of roster turnover after Kelly left. Not sure I remember there ever really being a “Power 6”. I guess the Big East was relevant in football at one time when VaTech, Miami, BC and a few others were members, but it seems like that only lasted about 10ish years and was over once they started bailing in the 2000s.No to both of these. He's made bowls just 50% of the time there, and will have to finish 3-2 at a minimum to make one this year. That's isn't very good, especially at a mid-major program that does have a history of some success like they do.Arkansas State is a program that's happy so long as they're bowl eligible each year. I would assume looking at the rest of their schedule they can get to 6 wins which would be his 3rd straight bowl appearance there. Considering that plus they just extended him at the end of last season, doubt he's going anywhere.
Has no business coaching at the P4 level, but he's proven throughout his career he's good enough at the G5 level.
