What the heck am I missing here? Is there any good reason they should be an 8.5pt favorite over us besides the logo on their helmet?

We’ve got one of the best offenses on the country for running and passing and a defense that does have some flaws but is getting multiple turnovers per game and living in the backfield. Alabama has a potent passing game, but a notably average rushing attack that is probably going to be without their leading rusher.

I’m just not understanding why we’re being counted out. We’ve won 2 out of the last 3 for Smokey’s sake!

I think we can beat them. The reasons to pick Bama would be because our defense lives off turnovers we might not get and Bama will net 80 yards in turnover advantage over us.

I don’t blame the rank and file fans for that...they don't deserve it, from everything I know they have always been a good loyal fanbase, and people that go there for a game say they are very welcoming and nice to visitors.

Now any of the leadership or anybody else that knew about it and covered it up deserve whatever hell they go through because of it.

I mean the ref thing is obvious. Did y’all forget which team you’re cheering for? I agree that could be a big difference….BUT consider this.

With the house of horrors that was SEC officiating this past weekend and even guys like Josh Pate clowning on it league wide I think there might be a chance we see an even whistle. That’s just my thoughts on that. I will also say that we just won a game against a statistically better offense than what Bama has that was penalized all of 1 time in 4 quarters. Food for thought.

They're at home, and we haven't beaten them there since like 2003. Hence the spread.

Eh. Not good enough reasoning to me. We’ve had scant few teams in that time that were realistically good enough to go down there and beat them and this team is probably one of them.

Also, again, if people are betting on streaks and that’s why the line is the way it is then that’s pretty stupid considering we’ve got more wins against them in the past few years than Kirby Smart has in his entire career at Georgia.

They have looked better than us and have beaten better teams. Also they are at home. We struggle quite a bit on the road. Simple.

It's honestly some of both...Banks wants to play bend but don't break break due to the weakness in our DB, which is a very rational use of what we have with McCoy and Gibson out, but some of the players are taking horrible angles, getting way out of position and missing a lot of tackles when they do get where they are supposed to be.

I have seen this broken down by several YT guys that I really respect...they pretty much say what I just said. They say Banks didn't get stupid overnight and he is doing the best he can with what he has to work with.

I really really hope we get at least one good Safety and one good LB and one huge strong DT out of the Portal this year. If we just had that this year it would make a HUGE difference. I wish we could find another Pili that isn't freak injury prone, and a Jakobe that wasn't greedy...those guys were so freaking good when they were on the field. I hate that those things happened to Pili...IMO he would have been one of those beloved Vol legends if he hadn't gotten hurt both seasons, and now most will forget him except to think he was made of glass. He could have been one of the great ones.
