Pete Hegseth, Trump Dept of Defense nominee…

Just because he's Republican doesn't make him weak... If anything, the Democrats have been the r*tards over the last 25 years.

And yet not a single defense secretary appointed by a Democrat in the last 25 years, has leaked their own classified information to a Signal group chat with their wife and a random journalist in it.

And I agreed that he should have been fired for that. My question to you was outside of that, name his failures as SoD?
It's subjective. My goodness. I think the speech with the brass was purely a political show and he looked silly doing it. Is that a fail? Not necessarily but certainly bad optics IMO. His testimony during the Senate hearings was immature and petty. Insinuating that Mark Esper was lying was cowardly. Not pushing back on the NG deployments looks weak. Again, that's my opinion. Not necessarily a fail. The only thing I really mentioned is an automatic disqualification. Other things are irrelevant.

Love what Hegseth is doing. Bout time this military gets some discipline. We don't need 300-pound big mamas on the front lines.

You're fighting the last war.

Technology has changed everything. Will we need boots on the ground to hold positions? Absolutely. But, the next big war we're in will largely be fought with drones. SEE: Ukraine. Right now.

As of mid-2025, estimates indicate that 70-80% of Russian casualties are inflicted by Ukrainian drones, based on analyses from Ukrainian military sources, Western intelligence, and leaked Russian data. This figure applies primarily to frontline combat losses (killed and wounded) and reflects a shift from artillery dominance in 2022-2023, as drones now create pervasive "kill zones" that hinder advances and evacuations.

So 300 pound drone operators out there - if you're talented, you're in. Just try to lay off the wings while flying as that'll make the controllers slick... and messy.

If Mark Milley or Lloyd Austin had wasted millions to convene that much top brass in person to cry about fitness standards and beards, the "fiscal conservatives" on this board would have been apoplectic.

At the end of the day, in a real war you are going to need people in boots with guns. Matter of fact, the Ukrainian war is showing just that. Its like saying we have artillery so we can have a bunch of 400lbs. putting the shells in.

By all means list his screwups

I'd say the now routine extrajudicial killings of the purported "Narco Terrorist" drug runners in the Caribbean fits the bill of a monumental **** up. A blatant violation of standard international maritime laws.

But, hey, laws are for breaking right.

You’re not entirely wrong but even that drone operator needs to be in shape if they are wearing the uniform.

Yes. As your buddy Huff used to say “laws schmalls”

OK. So what you're saying is that Hegseth is failing.

National Guard. Chicago. October, 2025:

It's ok. He sent those weekend warrior fatties home, and told Texas to only send him dudes who looked like they'd elicit a boner from Grindr patrons.

No. That’s a local leadership failure

Ohhhhh. Local leadership failure of the NATIONAL Guard eh?

Forget Portland. Hegseth should send the National Guard from elsewhere into Texas to surround Hardees, McDonald's and Burger King.

Real lives actually to be saved from cardiovascular failure.

No idea, how much money did PH spend?
Estimated $3.5-$6 million plus.

Maybe we'll get the exact number when we see the Pentagon audit that you guys cry about whenever a Democrat is in office.
