It would be good to have some adult conversation about this, but it's not going to happen. The medical establishment has a very good lobby. If you look at salary data collected by the burearu of labor statistics, 10 of the top 10 are doctors.Would love to see an actual proposal to fix the issue from the GOP but they seem content to just end the subsidies and do nothing else.
It’s understandable to see the base regurgitating this, but you’d think people who negotiate for a living could come up with a counter offer that would peel off 7 votes. The Democrat Counterfeit Resolution: A $1.5 Trillion Ransom Note to Taxpayers | House Committee on Appropriations - Republicans The Democrat Counterfeit Resolution: A $1.5 Trillion Ransom Note to Taxpayers
The Democrat Counterfeit Resolution:
Restores taxpayer-funded free healthcare for illegal aliens.
Props up liberal news programs.
Prioritizes electric vehicle access to HOV lanes, regardless of vehicle occupancy.
Removes work requirements for able-bodied, non-working adults on taxpayer-funded health programs.
Resumes DEI projects in foreign countries.
Hands criminals over $1 billion more for taxpayer-funded defense.
Repeals $50 billion in rural health care funding, hurting hospitals and clinics in vulnerable communities.
Reverses lawful executive actions made by the President.
Rescinds border security measures passed through the Working Families Tax Cuts.
Usurps the President’s authority over emergency funds.
Locks in Biden Administration grant policies in direct contrast to President Trump’s executive orders.
Handcuffs the Trump Administration’s ability to make agile decisions.
Burdens Trump Administration officials with added bureaucracy meant to slow down progress.
Includes $1.5 trillion in new spending for just a month of keeping government funding extended.
Again, it’s understandable to see the base regurgitating these talking points. People who don’t need to be persuaded to take the Republicans’ side. It's a poison pill. They wanted the shutdown.
Pass the CR and negotiate propping up the anything but affordable ACA.
I am late to the specifics of the CR. I support reduced spending and shutdowns.Again, it’s understandable to see the base regurgitating these talking points. People who don’t need to be persuaded to take the Republicans’ side.
I would like to think that everybody else expects their senator to know they have to negotiate 60 votes, shut down the government, or repeal the filibuster. And to understand that they’ve all chosen to shut down the government.
It's all a game. Both parties regurgitate their talking points and put in poison pills.Again, it’s understandable to see the base regurgitating these talking points. People who don’t need to be persuaded to take the Republicans’ side.

No.I am late to the specifics of the CR. I support reduced spending and shutdowns.
I looked into it this morning. Here's my understanding:
- 2024 spending was about 6.8 trillion. (4.9 revenue, deficit of 1.8 trillion)
- CR funds the government for the same amount this year.
- Ds are wanting another 1.5 trillion.
Everybody agree these are the bullet points?
There are many ways to fix the problem. The challenge is what we see as a "problem" politicians see as an "opportunity". To use a biblical phrase, we are unequally yoked with our leadership. It's all a game. Both parties regurgitate their talking points and put in poison pills.
Trust me the Republicans were complaining non-stop about the " Biden era spending levels " . Now they are reasonable? BS.
Here's an idea , make it mandatory to pay essential workers during their little lords and ladies kerfuffle. They could have a nice bipartisan bill to do just that ...but they need the pain points.
The 1.5 trillion is the 10-year cost per a partisan budget group, so roughly 10% of that per year. I’m not sure what the net increase/decrease over FY2025 is because it seems like a lot of the stuff they’re asking for was in the CRs that comprised the bulk of the 2025 budget. I think the cuts to Medicaid that they want to roll back came with the actual budget passage about halfway through the fiscal year and the cuts to ACA haven’t taken effect yet.No source for the understanding of what is occurring. I gleaned that from the discussion.
The data for spending is from Statista.
Help me get right with my understanding, please.
Thanks. CRFB is the partisan budget group? The 1.5 trillion is the 10-year cost per a partisan budget group, so roughly 10% of that per year.
