OP, I see Notre Dame is ranked high here. Is that based mostly on the poles?

Polls have nothing to do with it. ND has played a pretty good schedule and has absolutely destroyed some folks. I wouldn't have them this high if I had a votr, but the math is what the math is.

A little commentary:

The MAC is wild this year. Aside from having the worst team (UMass) and another in the Bottom 5 (EMU), the MAC had four teams that literally just avoided the Bottom 10:

123. Akron
124. Northern Illinois
125. Kent St
126. Ball St

Bowling Green is at 105 and Buffalo comes in at 111. That's 8 out of 13 members ranked 105th or worse.

The highest ranked MAC member is Ohio at 76. If you're doing the math, that means there isn't a single MAC team in top half of the rankings.

The reason they rank so poorly is that every team has brought down the SOS of their conference opponents. The MAC played 39 out of conference games against FBS opponents and only won 5. And to make matters worse, UMass and EMU lost to FCS schools. It's just brutal all the way around.
